Leahy, 80, is president pro tempore of the Senate, and on Monday was sworn in to preside over the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump. In a statement, David Carle, a spokesman for Leahy, said the senator did not feel well on Tuesday evening, and went to George Washington University Hospital "out of an abundance of caution."
Carle said Leahy was admitted for observation, and "after getting test results back, and after a thorough examination, Sen. Leahy is now home. He looks forward to getting back to work. Patrick and [his wife] Marcelle deeply appreciate the well wishes they have received tonight."

He is going to be more than incapacitated. He shall assume room temperature!!
TJ Donovan - VT’s horrible AG.
Living proof that only the good die young.
You know, Leaky Leahy might have Covid!
Quick, get the @n@l test swabs, a geezerβs life is at stake!
Oh, as Senator.
I thought you meant to preside over this sham M Peach Mint.
Is Donovan a crazed lib, too?
Why wouldn’t the R Gov appoint a Repub, at least??
Breaking news! Rand Paul is getting impeached for inciting a heart attack in Leahy by saying what a scumbag he was during his floor speech.
“Another poster child for term limits.”
Agreed.
Leahy was elected to the Senate in 1974.
Let’s put it this way - I was in elementary school when he was elected.
NO ONE, regardless of whether there’s an R or D after their name, should hold office that long.
The night is not yet over!
The ‘R’ Gov is not a friend to conservatives in the State. Flip-Flop Phil only won the last election because nobody wanted the pony-tailed, pot smoking vegetable farmer he ran against.

So a couple questions....
Was it gas pains?
I thought the Chief Justice must preside, according to the constitution?
Why would Roberts not want to be a part of this circus?
Does that make this hearing legal?
Geez, VT.....c’mon, man.
No indication of what happened either....dizzy, fell, staggered...
Has he had his shot? When? Does he have any health problems. He's sure not quick on his feet.
If he's not in the Senate tomorrow...the Dems will have to huddle.
80 year olds never get better...living becomes a deteriorating state at a certain point.
I hope Leahy gets the same vaccine that others got like Hank Aaron....
Maybe it was Mentalpause brain cramps?
They knew the visual would arouse Patriots.
They're laughing at us.
They all have goals to die in office. Pathetic really
Dang, I was hoping for better news.
So a man, openly critical of the defendant, is going to preside over an impeachment procreeding?
“When Trump froze congressionally appropriated military aid to Ukraine as part of an effort to compel Ukraine to investigate his political rival, he broke the law.”
First lie. Trump claimed it was withheld because of corruption in Ukraine. There was an ongoing investigation that Biden stopped by threatening to withhold $1B dollars in loan guarantees until the Ukrainian Prosecutor stopped the investigation on his son and Burisma and was fired. And Biden gave he Ukraine six hours to do it
And what Leahy, like many others failed to (selectively) remember was there was a treaty between the US and the Ukraine singed by Bill Clinton in 1999 to jointly investigate corruption concerning the two countries.
https://www.congress.gov/treaty-document/106th-congress/16/document-text
So if withholding funds by a POTUS or VP is illegal, Biden is hip deep in crime and any president would be required to investigate with the Ukraine. (I guess except Obama and Biden)
And, again, Leahy is presiding over an impeachment trial for a man he openly, and incorrectly, publicly lied about? Conflict of interest. Time for recusal. And good luck finding a democrat that hasn’t disqualified him/herself for the same reason. Libs can’t keep their mouths shut. And why does it have to be a democrat? If it just procedural I can think of a number of senators on the conservative side of the aisle that haven’t bad mouth the defendant. So they pick one that is critical of the defendant. Kangaroo....
Just as soon as the trial kicks off, his positions in the proceedings should be challenged and for the reason I just mentioned conflict of interest. With what he has said, there is no way he can be impartial. That ship has sailed.
It’s like trying to find 12 men/women to be the jurors at the OJ Simpson trial that didn’t know who he was. They almost had to use his past instructors from USC. They never saw him before.

Most that know him probably thought alcohol withdrawal.
