Yes and no. This story regardless of it’s veracity hits pretty close to home. Got an uncle that did not honor his father’s (Marine) wishes (he left a very detailed will) after his passing, isolated all but one family member (my daughter) from my Grandmother up to her passing (for 6.5 years), hid my Grandmother’s death from all other family members (except my daughter), cremated my Grandmother and did not bury her beside my Grandfather in the fully prepaid/prepared burial plot. To this day, only the Lord knows where her urn is located.
And no, I honestly (or foolishly) did not realize that he would treat his own family in such a manner. Used to get very angry when I thought about it as I had lost not only my Grandfather that day but my Grandmother as well as my uncle but then I realized that all those things that my uncle did and continues to do will result in his own demise.
It’s been very difficult over the years not to put “my finger on the scale” so to speak when the opportunity presents itself and believe me I’ve had multiple opportunities (the last time being a couple months ago) to do so yet chose the high road. I refuse to get down on his level and always keep in mind: What would my Grandfather do?
I fear for his soul and hope that some day soon he will realize the error of his ways and come to find peace in the Lord.
