“The justices threw out Trump’s challenge to lower court rulings that had allowed lawsuits to go forward alleging that he violated the Constitution’s emoluments clause by accepting payments from foreign and domestic officials who stay at the Trump International Hotel and patronize other businesses owned by the former president and his family.”
What happened? What did the Court rule?
No longer needed to in their 24/7 harassment of the President (nice that they waited until after the elections to rule, don’t want to seem bias after all) /s
Possibly Roberts is sending a message that going forward with an impeachment trial is moot because President Trump is no longer the sitting president?
They’re throwing you a cookie.
Good SCOTUS! Now tell the Senate any Senate impeachment trial of now former POTUS Trump is CONSTITUTIONALLY MOOT SINCE HE IS NO LONGER IN OFFICE!!
The court really chickened out on this one. There is no law that says a President cannot make money while in office.
This hardly makes up for the Supreme Court giving the election to Joe Biden.
Trump’s case before the SC no longer matters because the suits against him have been ordered moot. It’s a win.
So, essentially, the ruling is that the courts took too long. Good that it was thrown out, but poor way to do law.
