Russian Police Arrest Thousands Of Protesters Demanding Government Release Alexei Navalny

Russian police arrested around 3,000 protesters across Russia on Saturday in a dramatic crackdown against nation-wide demonstrations demanding the Kremlin release Russian opposition leader and anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny.

“Navalny was arrested on Jan. 17 when he returned to Moscow from Germany, where he had spent five months recovering from a severe nerve-agent poisoning that he blames on the Kremlin and which Russian authorities deny,” the Associated Press reported Saturday. “Authorities say his stay in Germany violated terms of a suspended sentence in a 2014 criminal conviction, while Navalny says the conviction was for made-up charges.”

“Navalny fell into a coma while aboard a domestic flight from Siberia to Moscow on Aug. 20. He was transferred from a hospital in Siberia to a Berlin hospital two days later,” the AP continued. “Labs in Germany, France, and Sweden, and tests by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, established that he was exposed to the Soviet-era Novichok nerve agent.”

The incident is believed to be the second such poisoning. Navalny “was taken from jail to a hospital in 2019 with an illness that authorities said was an allergic reaction but which many suspected was a poisoning.”

Navalny and his wife returned to Russia last week, triggering his arrest. Several of his top associates were also arrested by Russian authorities and also remain in custody.

Navalny’s imprisonment struck a chord with pro-democracy activists worldwide and, within Russia, sparked dozens of demonstrations against Vladimir Putin’s government — demonstrations that Putin’s forces tried to end on Saturday.

Dumb move by Putin. The fact is that given where Russia is today compared when Putin first took power, he would most likely win a fair elction without the thug stuff. The Russian people almost never desert a strong leader despite his faults.

Navalny rose to prominence in his opposition to Putin when he finished second in the 2013 Moscow Mayoral election, against long term politician Sergey Sobyanin

Navalny claimed fraud - in particular - illegal mail-in ballots, unauthorized counting machines in the districts favorable to Sobyanin, and also very late-counting and returns from those districts favorable to Sobyanin.

The Russian Supreme Court would not hear his case, claiming observers declared election was fair. Navalny was called a “conspiracy theorist” and “insurrectionist.”

The irony is hilarious. LOL!!!

This is what the Democrats would love to do to all Trump supporters.

Imagine if Putin gets overthrown a the week Trump leaves.

Can you imagine the field day our Ministry of Propaganda will have with that?

There are no coincidences.

The funny thing is that Navalny has been a Nazi, before the mainstream media decided that he is a freedom fighter.

Here is his take on illegal immigration from 15 years ago:

On top of that he is a convicted felon on three counts of embezzling, fraud and money laundering.

His arrest is 100% legal based on the violation of probation.

I am glad you mentioned these issues. Also, did the protestors get a permit for their demonstrations? If not, why not?

This entire navalny effort is a (C)lowns (I)n (A)ction operation started-— (and idiot boy Brennan announced it on twitter in code wording) in October 2020. This is all over the net, the origin of this Ukrainian like “revolt”-— which is NOT a revolt at all.

Meanwhile the steel grip of Chi-Com XiPing the controller of XiBiden-— has crushed the Freedom Movement, the very real one- in Hong Kong. They first crushed it using SARS COV-19-

(Sound familiar? the kept large parts of the US needing “mail in ballots for safety”, from something they are now saying is going away- or confusedly trying to revive, depending on their political repressive needs in the US).

Now they allow the distraction of a “freedom” movement in the oligarchy that is Russia. And our Clowns think they are doing the right thing— when, in reality they work for The E.U. You know, the one Trump got us away from, and the climate accords and all the rest, and the one the Brite BREXIted from. That’s all changed back now under JoeBama the 3rd obama term that was to be hitlery’s. Disgusting lying bastards.

Hearts go out to Hong Kongers as they are crushed under a second Mao, having abrogated a 90 year agreement with the UK when they left Hong Kong. They lie- Communists lie. And so do our fellow traveling Clowns, money in misery, and ginning up a war with Russia— to continue to help the chi-coms (just as they did in Vietnam).

I believe that the freedom of assembly is universal but it is indeed limited in Russia since ten years ago, when Hillary and McCain tried to extent the Arab Spring to Russia. They didn’t apply for permits though, although it seems like the police only picked rioters and agitators, leaving the rest unmolested.

3000?? The Minneapolis police were ordered to turn their backs and watch the 3rd precinct burn. Then 100’s and 100’s of buildings were looted and burned. The city burned for 4 days. Thousands got onto freeways and shut them down. The downtown area of Minneapolis was looted. The law abiding citizens of MN want action. The ass-clown city counsel is defunding the police and less and less of the city liberal elite are agreeing with the clown show.

So please tell me HOW CAN 3000 PEOPLE BE ARRESTED? We in MN have the same type of videos as the 1/6/21 rally. How come last summer, nobody was arrested in MN? I hope Moscow has a “no bail policy”./s

WTH???

“...did the protestors get a permit for their demonstrations? If not, why not?”

Putin signed a law in 2014 that outlawed protesting. Protesting on the streets of Moscow — or any other part of Russia, for that matter — would not only cost a pretty penny, but also could land you behind bars.

The law was one of a few measures Putin signed that are expected to increase the Russian government’s ability to control public discourse and the free exchange of information.

There was never really any question that Putin would endorse the measures, which had been going through the lawmaking process for months. The protesters knew this would happen if they hit the streets. And knowing any resistance was going to be painful was within the law.

We need to stay out of foreign government lawful determinations just like our federal government cannot force anything on states within state rights. We can’t tell them how to rule their country just like the complaint we have of Russian intervention in our elections. And theirs has proof for about 7 years of written and verified laws.
