Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faced anger from some of Canada’s premiers Thursday over U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline project — including heated calls for punishment that could fracture ties between the two allies.
The First Ministers call, which lasted just over an hour, also touched on the coronavirus pandemic and issues with the nationwide vaccine rollout, sources told Global News. But Canada-U.S. relations in the wake of Biden’s controversial move dominated the discussion.
“Some premiers want to go to war” with the United States over the cancellation, aides of those who participated in the meeting said.

The aides spoke on the condition of anonymity to frankly discuss a private discussion that they said “got pretty heated.”
During the discussion, aides said Ontario Premier Doug Ford cast his lot in with Alberta’s Jason Kenney and Saskatchewan’s Scott Moe, and warned the prime minister he should stand up to “a bully” like Biden on Keystone.
The characterization surprised some of the other premiers on the call, aides said, given the behaviour of Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump.
Ford, along with premiers of other non-oil producing provinces, fear that if Biden can cancel Keystone XL, he’ll also bring in “Buy America” policies to help the American economy recover from the pandemic. A “Buy America” policy, which Biden has promised on the campaign trail, could freeze out Canadian steel, aluminum, and manufactured goods — something that would cause widespread harm to the Canadian economy.
BNSF took a big hit when Obama did his coal ban act. Yet not a peep from Buffett, and certainly no thanks to Trump when he lifted it.
We have to at least attempt to put up a fight. Running into a hidey hole is exactly what the left wants.
“Warren Buffet apparently behind the cancelation of the pipeline.”
I’ve read that Buffett’s railroads will make extra money hauling Canadian oil in the absence of a pipeline. The notion that he cares that much strikes me as very far fetched. What Buffett is really worried about is self-driving cars eventually putting his GEICO cash cow out of business. Buffett is not a nickel and dime guy.
Biden’s decision to me is obviously just ordinary Democratic insanity; a pound of eco-flesh to please the crazy AOC/Sanders wing of the party. Now AOC can claim two great “successes”: driving Amazon out of Queens, and killing the Keystone Pipeline.
“Canada lives under our umbrella of military protection.”
What you stated is a fact and many Canadians will admit to that as fact.
OK, Great. Then fight like hell to get your state to secede from a tyrannical illegitimate criminal US junta that has abnegated its commitment to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that will never have a legitimate election ever again making slaves of us all. How about that? Petitioning a criminally corrupt court system to redress a grievance is like farting in the wind.
Trump owned Trudeau.
Period.
He knocked his fake eyebrow out of place.
Don’t blame you a bit
But what were they doing letting the Chinese come and do military exercises?
Isn’t Justin T the ‘love child’ of Castro? Or was that just an internet rumor?
Except for the Canadian Coward that just threatened me via feeepmail, lol!!
I retract my statement that a well armed gang could take over Canada.
A girl scout troop could do it with nothing more than their cookies!!!
and more importantly America, her people & the middle-class
Fair point.
The environmental argument is ludicrous because shipping oil in a rail care by train is far more likely to cause spills and creates far more air pollution from diesel locomotives.
Finally “Canadian invasion” won’t just be a weather pattern.
They didn’t build it for the same reason nobody can drill an oil well in California.
Great incentive for the chicoms to offer to assist in building a pipeline from Alberta to Vancouver along with a terminal to transfer the oil to Shanghai bound tankers.
Biden won’t enforce any “buy American” edicts, only a Patriot would do that.
We used to visit Brandon, MB often and eat at the McDonald on the north edge. This was also a popular hangout for the Canadian military. There was just nothing impressive about them. Their uniforms, how they carried themselves, nothing.
During my active duty days I was around plenty of foreign soldiers. Many of them very impressive from the various standpoints. The Canadians just are not among the impressive ones.
There are supposedly several thousand Chinese troops up there. If that bunch decided to take the whole country over there is not a damn thing Canada could do about it. The truly sad part is with Biden in charge, the US would do nothing to stop it.
Hey Alberta, why don’t you become a state?
I say, “Go for it, Canucks!”
All true, but at least Baby Trudeau lacks the viciousness of Joe Xiden’s handlers.
