Biden’s militarized inauguration showcased Democrats’ insecurity
NY Post ^ | 21 Jan 2021 | Glenn Reynolds

Nothing says, “This was a perfectly normal election, and now it’s time to come together as a united nation,” like having your swearing-in behind 12-foot-high razor wire surrounded by 25,000 troops whose loyalty you doubt. That’s what we witnessed at President Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday: a grim testament to the fundamental insecurity and fragility of the re-ascendant liberal elite.

Democrats no doubt hoped that the optics of this military-heavy presidential installation would convince ordinary Americans that the republic is in peril from the populist ferment that sent Donald Trump to the White House in 2016 and garnered more votes four years later than any GOP ticket, ever. It’s a peril that can only be addressed by, in James Comey’s lovely phrase, “burning down” the Republican Party.

But the whole aura was less Lincoln and more bananas. As in banana republic.

Abe Lincoln had fewer troops to defend Washington during the Civil War, even though the Confederate capital of Richmond was just down the road. LBJ used only about half as many troops to put down the 1968 riots that killed more than a dozen, injured hundreds and did property damage that lasted decades.

Pictures of Biden's Inauguration reminded me of pictures from the Politburo of the old and extinct Soviet Union.

Call me a skeptic but I think the show of force was to protect themselves from their own terrorist wing of their party. I can’t wait until they eat their own. Air it on pay for view and we could balence the budget with the proceeds.

And then when the dems were done with the military, they made them sleep on the floor and use 1 toilet

When I saw the high fence completely surrounding the Capitol with armed guards patrolling the perimeter, I thought that at long last, they had imprisoned all the criminals.

I believe it was was most likely for a multitude of reasons, not a single reason...
1. Protect them from their fanatical and now uncontrollable Marxist wing, BLM and antifa.
2. Protect them from a highly unlikely conservative assault
3. Make sure a HUGE Trump rally did not assemble on the mall and drown out the Biden sham installation
4. Project force to show the hoi polloi that the radical marxists have taken over and cannot be stopped, that our patriotic STATE guard units from every state have been co-opted and assimilated
5. There are probably a few additional more-subtle reasons I haven’t figured out.

NG troops firing on civilians would have resulted in catastrophic fail for the Bidenites.

Only the military can keep them in power.

NY Post: "... surrounded by 25,000 troops whose loyalty you doubt."

That comment says it all right there. The Democrats and their Pravda MSM actually believes the military is required to be loyal to whichever 'Party' the POTUS represents.

United States Military is loyal ONLY to the Constitution... NOT to the POTUS, not to any officer, official or political party.

The Dems and Biden are a carbon copy materialization of Hitler and the NAZI party.

The 25K NG is the only way Plugs could a crowd for his inauguration.

Call it a captive audience for someone who had a max of 7 people at any of his rallies.

And keeping the razor wire fencing up for another 30 days???

Especially with the razor wire being INWARD-facing; i.e., toward the Capitol rather than outward-facing to ward off potential intruders.

And how come the locks are on the outside of the gates? (At least, that's what I've read in several places). That does seem to indicate intent to keep people IN, not OUT. Just odd.

Call me a skeptic but I think the show of force was to protect themselves from their own terrorist wing of their party.

I think it's to promote the narrative that Republicans are domestic terrorists that require the government to protect society with highly visible and ongoing military force... because the riots may start at any moment.

You know, martial law ... for our safety.

I hope they have to keep it up forever.

Let them live in their own little self imposed gulag of guilt-ridden paranoia.

Suits me.
