President Joe Biden is looking to the Justice Department to reinstate a controversial Obama-era practice that allowed prosecutors to make settlement agreements where defendants paid outside groups instead of the government or victims, according to a report.
The Trump administration stopped these payments in 2017, as outlined in a Justice Department manual that initially came from a memo from former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
“When the federal government settles a case against a corporate wrongdoer, any settlement funds should go first to the victims and then to the American people — not to bankroll third-party special interest groups or the political friends of whoever is in power,” Sessions said in 2017.
In 2017, Congress took aim at the “slush fund,” which incentivized corporate payments to left-wing groups such as La Raza.

Another practice the GOP could have eliminated by statute when Paul Ryan was Speaker and Mitch McConnell was Majority Leader and Trump was POTUS. Apparently the Republicans are quite satisfied with money from the Federal treasury going to support their opposition.
Why doesn’t some enterprising journalist, or even Republican staffer in Congress, do some digging and find out how much of this money is basically passed from the Treasury to leftist social justice groups and then back into the coffers of the DNC, Democrat candidates, and Democrat voter manipulation.
How is this legal?
Only if they simultaneously reweaponize the IRE against right wing groups and anybody caught supporting them in any way

I’m sorry, but the USA government needs to be bankrupted, and printed, manipulated, fiat Federal Reserve money needs to be ended. Return to a gold standard.

This is a big part of why Trump was so “dangerous” because he interrupted their money laundering schemes.

I am of the opinion that the next conservative administration should use this tactic to fund “right wing” groups and do so LOUDLY. Make all kinds of press anouncements on how xyz ruling helped address a conservative issue. Maybe then the libs will support not allowing this type of graft.
I’m sure these groups will funnel the big guy 10% of the slush.
We had such a hard time getting standing for many of the election court cases. Do these leftist groups have standing to receive money?
