Thatcher notwithstanding, but since they ditched Enoch Powell, the Tories have been hot garbage.
The only principles the Tories have are how to survive and adapt. Unlike the Whigs and the Liberals of old, they have adapted their principles to fit with whichever way society is being guided by influencers, malign or otherwise.
Once you appreciate that is what the tory creed is, their actions make sense. That is how it was long before Powell too.

Boris faced off against a comically weak Jeremy Corbyn in 2019. Corbyn was openly Socialist, pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, and pro-Globalist.
Boris has made blunder after demoralizing blunder ever since...
Harshly enforced COVID lock downs and massive economic destruction. Brexit political incompetence. Sudden embrace of Green Energy. And now - Woke.
Unless Corbyn runs again, the next election is already lost.
And yet Labour also embraces all those things as well. There isnt much of an alternative. Besides, the harsh lockdown have majority support in public opinion and think if anything Boris wadnt hardn enough.
