Your argument relies on stipulating that cotton, nylon, paper, etc masks, are effective in preventing the spread.

I don’t know what science comic book you’re reading. There are several studies, both pre and pat COVID that clearly show no benefit to face diapers.
If they did work, nearly a year of forced compliance would surely have lessened the impact of COVID. Instead, after a year of forced compliance cases remain high.
Masks actually contribute to the spread.
Wearing a mask has nothing to do with "partisanship" or "patriotism". It has to do with whether masks stop the corona virus. They don't.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC), the go-to organization for these answers, claims that 89% of all people stricken with the Covid, were either wearing their masks full time or most of the time before contracting the disease. The other 11% didn't wear masks.
That right there says that masks don't work 90% of the time. And with a disease that has a 99.8% survivability rate, your chances with Covid are far better if you just don't wear a mask.
And I find it hard to believe that the federal government didn't require people to wear masks before Joe thought of this "brilliant" idea. Most Americans have been dutifully wearing masks since last spring, almost a year ago, on both private and public properties. Where has that gotten us? It hasn't done anything to stop the virus and won't. The virus is a dead particle that will be in our environment virtually forever.
So why all of the sudden the mandate on federal property? Because democRATS are prone to doubling down on policies that don't work, hoping for a different outcome. You think the virus can tell the difference between private and government property? No.
This is all for show. Show as in Joe just "showing off" his new communist dictatorial powers.
This worthless mandate is indicative of his lack of skills in making executive decisions that are required of the president. He thinks "acting" like a leader is the same as being a leader. It is not. Heaven help us.
