Not sure of legalities but I do know because I was there that the 82nd Airborne of which I was a member went to DC to quell the riots back in 1972. I believe the called it “The days of Rage” and it was fomented by the leftist's and antiwar agitators. We would just grab them and haul them over to RFK stadium in buses to be processed and the ones who gave us a hard time regretted it. Legal? Probably not but they never got to tear down a statue , burn cars or destroy buildings.

I subscribe to a FB group “I love being a mom,” which is on the liberal side, although sometimes I comment there to represent a conservative viewpoint. Someone asked how many ppl watched the inauguration, but surprisingly 80% of the posts were negative and derogatory about Biden. There were lots of comments about how they wanted Trump to win and how sick they are that he didn’t, and some even mentioned the obvious fraud. If a semi-liberal group like that doesn’t believe Joke won, then how long do they think this charade can stand?

THere could have been regular Army troops encamped in the Capitol if they had wanted them there. Laws don’t stop democrats. Pelosi could have demanded whatever she wanted to “secure” the Capitol from the “white supremacists” and it would have been done.
