Infections higher after lockdown went into place..
Infectious diseases expert Professor Steven Riley says current data shows that the national lockdown in the United Kingdom is not working.
Riley, who is professor of infectious disease dynamics at Imperial College London, cited a React study which shows “the prevalence of infection increased between 6 and 15 January,” after the national lockdown was announced on January 4.
“It’s long enough that, were the lockdown working effectively, we would certainly have hoped to have seen a decline,” said Riley.
The professor added that current research “certainly doesn’t support the conclusion that lockdown is working.”
As we highlighted last week, a peer reviewed study by Stanford researchers found that mandatory lockdowns do not provide more benefits to stopping the spread of COVID-19 than voluntary measures such as social distancing.
The researchers found “no clear, significant beneficial effect of [more restrictive measures] on case growth in any country.”
While numerous studies show that lockdowns have no impact on reducing the spread of viruses, an avalanche of data shows that they cost lives.
Academics from Duke, Harvard, and Johns Hopkins have warned that there could be around a million excess deaths over the next two decades as a result of lockdowns.
Thousands of doctors and scientists are on record as opposing lockdown measures, warning that they will cause more death than the coronavirus itself.
The reason lockdowns don’t work is that people don’t observe them.

I think it’s working everywhere, but people just don’t know it. And there are plenty of preventative measures anyway. Vitamin D, Zinc, coffee, etc.

It could be lack of Vitamin D. It has been theorized that one reason darker-skinned people get sick and die from COVID at higher rates than lighter-skinned people is lower levels of D, too. Older people also need supplementation, as they do not synthesize it as well as younger people. Anyone living more than 30 degrees from the equator needs extra vitamin D in the winter to keep immune system robust.
Agreed about the Worldometer data for the UK. In fact, given the typical curve lag, the Worldometer daily new cases curve looks like a textbook example of mitigation working.
Now, which facets of mitigation and other factors are contributing most to the decline in cases is likely to be debated for some time. Ditto for unintended side effects, costs, and so on...
Now that their efforts to drive President Trump from office have succeeded I hope the “experts” who advised our lockdown will admit that they were mistaken.

It is not a nothing burger it is a real illness causing a lot of morbidity and mortality. That said mask mandates, lockdowns, and anything else the government does (except vaccine development) only makes it worse.

Then why is there not herd immunity to the common cold?
because there are hundreds of varieties of the common cold....you develop immunity to one there are 50 more caused by widely different viruses. You do however over your life span develop immunity to a number of them. Look at the number of colds a toddler gets compared to the number of colds your average adult gets
And you just stated why there won’t be herd immunity to the China virus, it will keep mutating.
