McConnell's speech prompted Nelson County GOP leaders to hold an emergency meeting, voting unanimously to issue a resolution censuring the senate majority leader for his comments.
"This has shown his true colors," Nelson Co. GOP Chairman Don Thrasher said. "We felt today during his floor speech on the senate where he impugned the character of President Trump was unacceptable to us. His whole behavior overall through this whole process of the last week is not consistent with what he promised us when he was running for re-election."
McConnell hasn't said how he will vote in the second impeachment trial of President Trump, but has said it's a "vote of conscience" and will be based on facts. But in light of the impending impeachment trial in the Senate, Thrasher has also proposed a resolution calling on McConnell to vote to acquit Trump.
"Basically calling for Senator McConnell to support President Trump and denounce the second impeachment as divisive," Thrasher said.
"I have at least 50 other chairs and vice chairs that have signed on for our resolution," Thrasher said. "this is a deal-breaker for a lot of Republicans."
Kentucky's GOP central committee will meet for a specially-called meeting Sat. Jan 23 to discuss and vote on the resolution, introduced by Thrasher. There are over 300 members, which included county GOP chairs and vice chairs, as well as all Republican elected state officials.

All of a sudden the Turtle has morphed in nancy pelosi?
It does mean something and that something at least someone is trying to shed light on the darkness. Does it accomplish anything, probably not but they are speaking out unanimously.
What other recourse do they have? Is this the strongest message or is there a better alternative?
As has been stated, the constitutional process is about removing a president from office. Once he’s a civilian, any real crimes can be prosecuted in the legal system.
Their problem is that there are no real crimes to charge President Trump with.
Exactly all Trump has to do is come out and say don’t vote GOP screw em and there’s enough for hard Trump supporters to cost the GOP every single swing district in this country
If state and local Republican committee's want donations other than small planning board and zoning buy offs, they better start being conservative Republicans.
Thank you for your post! Some good reading there!
Love it! I may use this!
But it sends a message, that hopefully can be followed in other states!! It is important!!
2020 Kentucky general election results:
Trump 1,326,646 (62.1%)
McConnell 1,233,315 (57.8%)
“ And the Republicans will not kick him out of the party.”
The sorry SOB only thru Trump under the bus because he will never run for re-election again and probably never go back to Kentucky. Trump won Kentucky by 26%. I guarantee you McConnell is polling in single digits in the state.
“Mitch has nothing left to lose.
He won’t run for election in 2026 and he will not be picked as majority leader in 2023.
And the Republicans will not kick him out of the party.”
#Walkaway.
THAT ^^ since the b@st*rds won't EVER vote term limits for themselves.
This is the ONLY way we can ever get these evil, vile, career DC swampers out.
“Trump might release a book in the near future.”

Trump WILL. I’ll bet on it. Anyone who hasn’t been living in a cave knows his personality.
A censure by itself might not seem to mean much, but, properly organized and coming from the “grassroots”, it could be the beginning of a “from the bottom up” movement to go statewide in several states. The goals should be far more than to simply censure McConnell, but, censure is a start. Vulnerable Senators in other states will take notice if this spreads to their states.
I suggest all, regardless of what State they are in, should write their local GOP Committees. Then work on getting friends to do the same, and follow what the Committees do. If the Committees do not act, elbow them harder (tell them you will withhold any donations to the Republican Party, for example.) You can START with that when you also write or call your Pubbie Senators. Tell their staff your conscience made you do it. Heheh.
Dueling white boards of failure.
If it was planned it was by a handful of radicals probably infiltrated by insider provocateurs friendly to Biden and Pelosi, and some other fools overly angered by the unaddressed stolen election. The 95% or more at DC were peaceful protesters not rioters. Some of that 1% got carried away and went into the building. But few actually started fires and destroyed.
Contrast that with what happened in all major cities last summer and still today where most of the protesters were destructive rioters and anarchists. The Dems use what happened in the capitol to advance an agenda for PR fear, while they & media hide what ANTIFA and BLM do.
Not just term limits for the “selected” officials, but for the Derp State bureaucrats themselves. We need to sack civil service for good and go back to patronage. 4 or 8 years in and then you’re out. No special benefits, no multi-trillion dollar army of gubmint employees. You go there to serve, not to get rich, and then you go back to the private sector and get a real job under the laws you enacted.
No donations to politicians up for election locally from outside that locale. No more George Soros donations. No more Hollyweirdo donations. No more industrialists’ donations unless they have business concerns in that locale and/or live there.
But what about the children?!/s
“Basically calling for Senator McConnell to support President Trump and denounce the second impeachment as divisive,” Thrasher said.
The second impeachment itself is divisive.
Joe: Unite with me, you neo-nazi white supremacist thugs.
Mitch: OK.
Joe: Haha. You know your name.
