If airlines persist in treating passengers like cattle, then that is the sort of clientele they are going to attract.

I hope you are being sarcastic. Asking a passenger to verify that their carry-on luggage meets the designated size limit is not "treating passengers like cattle."

I’m not being sarcastic. they’ve reduced the size of the seats, they’ve reduced the legroom, they’ve reduced the size of the permissible carry-ons, they’ve reduced the baggage allotment, and in some cases have even started charging extra for checked bags. The quality of the airline travel experience has gone down dramatically in the last couple of decades. They’re catering to the lowest common denominator now.
