My grandfather was born in Russia, but escaped and came here right after the Revolution. Most of his family (all but an older brother who was here) were trapped there. His father lost everything that he ever worked for when the Communists stole it in the 1920s; in the mid-’30s, old and sick with cancer in the Ukraine, he rented out the one thing they let him keep (his house), and they ended up beating him to death for it.

On the other side of my family, about 70 people were murdered in Poland by German Leftists and their henchmen.

I have, as a result, studied these people (Collectivists) for all of my adult life. They are obsessed with power over others, and there is literally nothing that they (as a group) will not do to acquire, enhance or keep it. Stalin murdered 20 million of his own people. Mao 60 million (and maybe more). Others were pikers in comparison...but only because they had lesser populations under their control.

Anyone who thinks that American Leftists/Collectivists will be any better than their 20th Century foreign counterparts is deluded. Human nature doesn’t care when you were born or where. People interested in power over others have, do and always will exist in every single society...and the only intelligent thing to do is for society itself to prevent these people from actually gaining power. We in America, despite the best efforts of the Founders, have tragically failed, and over the next few years we are going to find out - the hard way - exactly why the Founders tried to limit government power and to split it among 3 competing branches.
