That’s true.
But if he’s 100% in control then why wouldn’t he have done everything, including martial law, to stop this coup and the seating of an illegitimate “president”? And he would have released photos, etc., of the disgusting things those people have been up to. I guess he still can, but it’s too late at this point.
Because Trump knows, even if others don't, that declaring martial law is not legally possible and tossing out the Constitution is not something he or any other president should want to do.
My feeling is that he is maintaining a low profile so as not to be accused of stirring things up. He seems to be permitting whatever the DC mayor and Nancy Pelosi want, such as the unnecessary troops and fortification of the Capitol, although he is also still quietly appointing people and doing some administrative activities.
I think being blamed for the “riot” at the Capitol (some riot!) really upset him.
In connection with this, I have a question that I’ve never seen adequately answered: the group that broke into the back of the Capitol and got into the building (and yes, they did look like anarchist instigators with a plan, no matter what they were wearing) did so long before Trump had finished speaking. The police in the back of the building were already fighting with these people, both inside and outside. Trump would never have called on people to walk peacefully to the Capitol if he had known what was happening there.
So my question is...why didn’t he know? Why didn’t somebody tell him what was going on ?
I think it was deliberate. In fact, even the police in the front of the building (the ones who let people into the Rotunda) seemed unaware of what was going on in the rear section, the basement and the office areas of the very same building.
I think it was a set-up, and I think Trump is genuinely devastated by being blamed for it.
