Coffee lovers may soon be in for a brand new wellness perk. Food scientists from the National University of Singapore (NUS) have developed a probiotic-rich coffee and tea, which are designed to boost digestive health. The two doctoral students claim that not only do these good-for-your-gut drinks contain as many as 1 billion units of live probiotics, but they can be stored at room temperature for more than 14 weeks without losing their effectiveness. And they taste delicious.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a while longer to get your hands on fermented coffees and teas. The NUS researchers have filed a patent for their recipes and plan on joining forces with food and beverage companies to distribute the product in the future.

I saw a soda with probiotics on Amazon while I was looking for a soda with stevia. Doesnt seem like a new thing.

Mom used to make sauerkraut when I was a kid. It stunk up the whole house. It was a putrid aroma.
I think I’ll buy a jar of sauerkraut. My gut could use trillions of good bacteria. Thanks for the info.

I have been drinking Tieman FUSION coffee for years. Very smooth and healthy.
I love yogurt in smoothies. None of that thick Greek Yogurt, but the cheap store brand cartons that cost $2/qt
It’s not bad coffee, but really pricy compared to what I can buy that’s locally roasted, and I can grind my own every time I want a cup. Whole bean coffee is WAY better than pre-ground.
When I say expensive, the Western distributor here charged me (including shipping) ~ $70 for FOUR 300 gram packages.
That’s pretty rich for my working-class butt.
