Please tell me oh, person who works in Emergency rooms, what infectious disease do you remember where you test positive for it and were sent home with no treatment at all until you were so deathly ill you had to hospitalized?
I was lucky, I got treatment because they did not test me until later. So I recovered with no problem even though I have lung problems.
B) You have politely raised a question of sorts so I will politely respond.
Covid is not like other pandemics. This is not the flu. It affects people differently. Most people can be sent home safely and will recover fine. a small percentage of people respond differently and will become acutely ill. I think it's partially because of thymic involution which is a well known thing that makes elderly folks susceptible to NOVEL pathogens like the NOVEL Coronavirus. I would not speculate beyond that. regardless, hospitals aren't going to admit you unless you meet certain criteria. I will tell you that my hospital is sending people home with pulse oximeters so that they can monitor their oxygen saturation levels throughout the day. if their pulse ox falls below 90%, they are to return to the ER and can anticipate being admitted at that time.
