Germany is set to put COVID dissidents who repeatedly fail to properly follow the rules in what is being described as a ‘detention camp’ located in Dresden.
Yes really.
In order to try to increase compliance, violators are told that if they receive both a warning and then a fine, a court will decide whether they should be punished with a stint in the camp.
“We don’t assume that there will be very many, but in the event that a court decides that way, there will be a facility to accommodate them,” a spokesperson told RT.
Camps. For dissidents. In Germany.
What could possibly go wrong?

In the USA it has been normal for local governments to enforce public health rules by drastic means if needed since the beginnings of our republic. If you enjoy it see the 1938 Bette Davis film “Jezebel” that deals with that as part of the plot.
So making remarks about the Germans in this instance is just clickbait. If someone is sick with the Wuhan virus and won’t follow quarantine rules they might need to be forcibly quarantined. In the good old days here in the USA they might have just shot you.

You make a good point there. The problem, of course, is with the optics. Germany has a deservedly bad reputation when it comes to detention camps. So they will take a hit when the subject is brought up.
It’s kinda like if the Russians tried to bring back forced farm collectives. They’d take special criticism for trying to do that.

Well they do have experience with camps, should be second nature for them.

You’re also biased, because you see a lot more of it. You also see more of all kinds of diseases than people. That’s why doctors may so prone to being dictators, because they don’t want to deal with what they see so much of.
However, in the rest of society, most of us don’t see covid at all, which suggests that it isn’t all that common. That’s what we are reacting too.
Nobody, of a sound mind, disagrees that covid exists and that it is highly contagious, but it the numbers suggest that it just isn’t that deadly in the big scheme of things. More contagious than the flu, but less deadly over all.
