How To Keep Your Online Browsing Unfiltered By Political Propaganda (June 14, 2017)
The Federalist ^ | June 14, 2017 | Jon Del Arroz

The Big Tech giants of Silicon Valley have overreached in pushing far-left positions, sending a message to conservatives: you’re not welcome. It became patently obvious yet again last week when executives from Google parent company Alphabet essentially said conservative viewpoints are illegitimate.

Alarms first sounded for conservatives when Mozilla, creators of the Firefox browser, fired their CEO over his financial support of California’s Proposition 8—a referendum against recognizing gay marriage that a majority of Californian voters passed.

Silicon Valley went full tilt in 2016, when several Big Tech CEOs and board members called a closed-door meeting to strategize on how to keep Donald Trump from reaching the White House. Silicon Valley’s leadership went further in March of this year, when several prominent industry members, including the co-founders of Facebook and Twitter, signed an anti-Trump open letter that has circulated around the Internet.

Even Our Apps and Browsers Are Politicized

Beyond the political activities of the Big Tech elite, conservative users have dealt with increasing frustration of the politicizing of the products they use. Most browsers and apps track and mine users’ personal information, creating a crisis for those who are privacy-minded. The invasiveness of these giant corporations is borderline criminal, and with the increasing frequency and intensity of cyberattacks, millions of customers have found their information isn’t safe. Standard reference sites like Wikipedia have also seen a slow decline in their objectivity on information, with any hot-button issue edited with a hard-left slant.

Those nuisances may have been tolerable if not for the Left’s overreach in social media. These sites have created moderation policies with double-standards toward conservatives, while those on the Left get a free pass to say anything they want, even libelous accusations or calls to violence. Twitter has been the most notorious..

From the Video at link:

"We Start from the principals of Science at Alphabet and Google"

"You will find that all of the other companies in our industry agree with us."

----

Remember this is 3 years ago in a public discussion. Clearly the Communist were solidly in charge of Alphabet and Google then. And according to Googles management, All the other companies in their industry agree (on June 14,2017). We see more clearly that they are now since November 3rd-4th, 2020.

The first thing you need is to have a healthy skepticism, and Google can’t help you with that. Not wittingly, anyway...

I try to avoid Google. Have for a long time. Was an early user of Scroogle.com when it began.

Have used Linux since 1994.

Yes, I am skeptical with evidence.

So you don’t have to use a computer for any real uses outside of light browsing and email?

Sure, it’s great for the backend, and I won’t use anything else, but Linux hasn’t became desktop-ready or content creation production-ready for 26 years. Is it’s goal to remain highly unusable and niche? People will switch if the apps presented weren’t such steaming piles of whale shit, or mainline app compatibility wasn’t complete whale shit. People do not want to use broken open-source freeware garbage.

If apps can be developed for the BSD-based MacOS, why can’t these same apps be developed for at least one distro on Linux? At least make one distro useful. But I guess that goes against the Linux mantra (I think Caldera Linux tried going mainstream in the past)

NOPE.

Totally disagree. Don’t know what Linux Distributions you have used.

The only application that I cannot find a satisfactory substitute for in Linux is a practical CAD Program.

I lived with AutoCad for 5+ years. No longer use it.

The last Job I worked at (years ago) I ran a catalog department for a wholesale distributor. I lived in a spread sheet and databases. Created a 3,000 page catalog (done in Quark) and the web content associated. Created and maintained 47,000 images and thumbnails and the bullet descriptions for both print and web. I batch processed images (Black and White, Color) using Image Magick.

It was scripted publishing from data on an AS400, to PC’s. Had my Redhat Linux machine on the left side of my huge desk and a Window’s machine on the right side of my desk. I could not have done it without the Linux machine. Period.

I know the limitations of Linux and those of Windows.

Game development software, decent 3D modeling software (blender ain’t it), 2D image editing software (GIMP definitely ain’t it), shader and materials creation software, professional grade audio mixing DAW software like ProTools or Logic .. and of course, decent office software that doesn’t suck. Proper driver support for High-end video cards... oh and gaming support.

Don’t even bother. He’ll just get nastier. Gates fanboy got a real hard on for Linux.

My X-son-in-law worked for Michael Dell, he used to snicker about me and my Linux machines. When Dell reorganized he changed jobs, wound up working for RedHat Linux. Smile. When RedHat sold to IBM he changed to another company.

Irony.

Not gamer.

Don’t do 3D modeling.

I love Gimp. I had 2 version of Adobe Suites. Never like them. So bloated and slow. Had to use bridge to handle EPS images properly. I did the catalog and all the promotions for a 40 million a year distributor. I used the tools that worked.

I’m old and opinionated. What works works.

Firefox has been my favorite browser forever. Finally got rid of it yesterday. I was running firefox + firefox developer edition at the same time. Replaced them with Pale Moon and Waterfox. I also run Brave and Falkon.

Got rid of Filezilla too. Replaced it with Krusader file manager(Linux) which also does ftp.

Still need to swap out from Thunderturd and then I’ll be done with Mozilla. Claws is decent.

Ditched facebook months ago and twitter weeks ago.

Don’t do google except for maps once in a while.

On the rare occasion that I need to use a proprietary windows program, I restart to windows 7 Pro. The other 360 days of the year, I run Ubuntu or a flavor of. I was in the electric sign business for 25+ years and Linux won’t cut it for that. Sign design software and the software that runs vinyl plotters and cnc machines are all windows. The cnc could be run by Linux but not plug and play.

VPN starts when the PC starts.

I’m originally from MA and live in MO now. That’s probably the most important thing anyone can do. Quit feeding the beast that will eventually devour you.

I lived in FL in between but supporting multiculturalism still ain’t great. Got sick of listening to foreign languages and sirens. Ctrl FL has a LOT of cops who love their job of going after poor people. Drive down the highway speeding by 10mph in a new Lincoln and they leave you alone. Do it in a 10-15 year old junker and you’re getting a $300.00 ticket.

Temps in the 90s with high humidity for months on end gets old too. And Florida man is a CrAzY SOB.

I’ve run Pale Moon for quite a while. Have not used Brave browser, but probably will try it.

Have tried serveral other light browsers, not really impressed with any of them.

I’ve not spent much time working on my equiment. Have 2 stems that I liked down for repairs. Have spent a lot of time in the past year caring for my 95 year old father. I owe him more han I can ever repay for he way he raised me. Reflect on it often, he is a great man.

Windows 7? Hope it’s at least the 64bit SP1 version.

32 bit support for a lot of apps is dead and buried.

Yup, 64 bit and since it’s never been updated, I’m sure it’s Sp1. It never goes on the web or a network so there’s no chance of getting viruses or malware.

The two apps are 32 bit. Auto repair related. Scan tool and repair info. Both get data updates but the programs themselves haven’t really changed in 10+ years and they know auto repair shops might be running older PCs that never get on the web or a network. The Win 7 side of this machine also never gets on the web or a network which is why I don’t update it. Runs fast like a fresh install.

Agree 100%...All hope, IMO, of overcoming the political demographics that exist in the large urban areas is gone. The schools, unions, and multinational corporations have a death grip on the conservative ethic in those locales. The rebuilding that must take place will begin with the concentration of conservatism... in a way that takes advantage of the Constitution's protections from the tyranny of the low-information masses. Electoral college etc...

The left is attempting to take away these protections, and urban area votes will be their weapon. If areas with predominantly conservative beliefs cannot attract solid conservatives from the urban morass and defend themselves from liberal influxes, this republic is headed for the dust bin of history.

I was on Gab for a while. Cannot be sure, but may have closed my account a year ago. Was not impressed with the interface. Was not really that impressed with Parler (bloated), but their security was very good.

The only application that I cannot find a satisfactory substitute for in Linux is a practical CAD Program.

There is no good full-featured database program anywhere near equivalent to FileMaker Pro or even Access. The Office Suite's spreadsheet chokes on very larged multi tab spreadsheets.

I tried the Linux version of Corel WordPerfect years ago before Corel dropped the support. It crashed CONSTANTLY (very unlinuxy).

If I went full-time I would probably have to buy a replacement sheetfed scanner to replace my Fujitsu ScanSnap.

I want to like it. I want to use it. I cannot, yet.
