Not only did Twitter delete Trump’s tweets in real time, it’s been claimed that jammers were turned on so that people couldn’t use their phones - meaning Trump’s tweets couldn’t get thru.

You were a good bit closer than I was, but my experience was consistent with what you describe. The mood of the group wasn’t violent, and by the time we walked from the ellipse after the speech, the crowds were already thick around the capitol building. I remember thinking it rude that so many people left his speech long before it ended. Granted, it was a little subdued, but it still seemed odd at the time. Perhaps related. Stunned people told us as they left the capitol that the police were gassing peaceful civilians, and we saw some of them being led away by friends because they were having trouble seeing and navigating on their own. It was a very confusing day.
