A racing pigeon from Alabama has survived an 8,000-mile odyssey to Australia, where it was named Joe after the president-elect – but authorities plan to kill the bird because it’s a quarantine risk, according to a report.
Melbourne resident Kevin Celli-Bird said he discovered the exhausted bird in his backyard on Dec. 26 after it had disappeared from a race in Oregon on Oct. 29, The Associated Press reported.

What about birds that migrate across continents? What about birds that just make domestic flight? I have birds that roost on my back porch. Do they put me at risk for COVID?
This is nuts.
People will be more upset over this than they are about babies being killed in the womb.
All those pesky human rights can be eliminated by declaring a pandemic.
Who knew?
And why would we ever give up our pandemic dictatorship by saying the pandemic is over?
I am surprised that it did not end up in China.
When I was a teenager I had pigeons. Mostly Birmingham Rollers, but I did have one pair of homers that had one chick I raised. When I tried to train it I took it about two blocks away from my house and let it go. It took two days to come back from two blocks away. A few months later I sold the bird to a man who was moving to Alaska, and sold all my birds and tore down the pigeon pen. A couple of months later I saw that homer that took two days to travel two block on the telephone wire over where the pen used to be. That bird had flown all the way from Alaska to Utah. I wish I could have had a pen to take the bird into. He deserved celebrating, just like this Australian homer does.
I am appalled by racist pigeons.
This is the same country that allows Lebanese rapist to enter...
How often are they going to drive out there to check on him?
