It’s the first time that smoking has been good for your health.
New Jersey is now allowing smokers to get the highly coveted COVID-19 vaccine — on the grounds that their habit is considered a high-risk health condition, reports said Wednesday.
“Smoking puts you at significant risk for an adverse result from COVID-19 and there are 2 million smokers in New Jersey who fit into these categories,” New Jersey’s Department of Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli said, according to NJ.com.

They are going to keep adding to the pool of eligible recipients because many already eligible (healthcare workers and first responders, for example) don’t want those vaccines already available.
Many co-workers (not yet eligible) here in NJ have openly stated they won’t get it.
Really...they were withholding a vacine because of smoking!!!
My gut feeling they are doing this because most Smokers are ignorant Democrat voters.
In the UK, IIRC, the NHS withholds services to smokers, or at least was seriously discussing doing so a few years back.
NO, they are not withholding it. They were not in the original group to get it. They have a “disease” called smoking. Next up, hang nail.

It may be a joke but a major study by French hospitals have shown smokers have the lowest death rates from Covid. Early studies are pointing to nicotine useage having some magic defense against Covid.
