I wonder if this was really a “cancellation” or just a refusal to renew at the annual renewal of the policy. It’s not uncommon in property & casualty insurance.

Does Schilling explain what kind of insurance this is?

I read the article and didn’t see any mention of what type insurance is involved. And it would be quite a coincident if some annual renewal just happened to come up at this time, but it is possible.

Some necessary details missing from this report.

I had the same question about the type of insurance involved. I don’t know anything about his current activities but he is a public person. He is also outspoken. I wonder if this involves some sort of umbrella policy that would cover him from litigation risk. We’re now in an Orwellian world where one can be sued, fired, and unpersoned for using the “wrong” pronoun.

He has been a paying customer for 16 years, without a claim, that makes this "cancellation or refusal to renew" highly suspect.

This is not common.

You refuse if the customer was nonprofitable {i.e. filed and won large claims}.

This was retribution against a Trumpster. PERIOD.
