Democrats and Republicans no longer represent the people from their respective states and districts. They are now two sides of the same coin.

We do have the internet and the more monolithic the media becomes, the less people are going to listen to it. As it stands I personally can’t watch American news and media anymore, with maybe one sitcom exception. I watch the Brits instead. Our country is at the breaking point right now because of the same reason the country was at the breaking point before, lack of representation. If Independents were counted as a party, they would be the largest one, but instead of being counted, their views and priorities, centrist by and large, are ignored because the major parties are too busy trying to distract a majority in their shrunken parties with divisive issues that poll around 20%. Trying to outlaw Fox News is not going to fix what is a major structural problem in the party system. If you try to squelch and control information (ala Barack Obama’s famously stonewalling administration, for example) you are going to give rise to all kinds of conspiracy theories. That has happened before in history plenty of times, the U.S.S.R. comes to mind.
The Ministry of Love is the one they really want. They'll be fighting like caged rats over which ones get to strap a cage of rats to Donald Trump's face.

I get what you’re saying and for the most part I agree.
You’re probably correct in my bias at least for today as here in Michigan the new Speaker of the State House has made priorities on securing elections and removing the DimWit Governor’s massive authority.
I have said and believe we need to fix and take back our country on the State level. All States.
That said......I’m very well prepared for the worse and continue to plan for the worse.
A bit optimistic perhaps today.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I believe the radical left control the Democrat party and are drunk on power and ambition. I do think they’re playing to the base, but they’re also playing for keeps as they have all the levers under their control.
They will/has reshape(d) the ‘battle space’ to insure their victory for at least a generation via immigration, mail in voting, etc. The GOP lies in ruin as many previous supporters will simply no longer vote or vote for another party.
The radical left clearly has virtually ALL the institutions on their side from big tech to media to academia to the Fortune 500 corps. They’ve simply completely routed our side within the paradigm in which we operate. Moderation as you and I are discussing isn’t necessary. To the contrary, now is the time for them to lean in, and lean in they will. The reward far outweighs the risk for them.
Now, all that said... I do not believe the Democrat/Republican, conservative/liberal paradigm will hold much longer... and a new paradigm will emerge and the game pieces will be reset at some point relatively soon. This is the best for which we can hope.
I hope I am wrong but I see zero signs that point to me being in error. We got too comfy, too complacent and simply didn’t fight... they fought the whole time, especially since the 2000 election. Their ground game and organizational skill far exceeds ours; they’re collectivists by nature and we are rugged individuals.
I suspect the Dem party elders you reference will be sent to pasture very rapidly. Prepare for a bumpy ride. The X-factor in this is a ‘black swan’ event that disrupts their near total consolidation of power and unravels their gains.
We have to start thinking for the world we’re in, not the one we’ve just left. Peace to you as well!
