Mitch McConnell said Senate is closed until 1/19. Will only pass two motions. Becomes moot at noon 1/20.
Impeachment will stand. Senate convicts doesn’t impeach.
Would an Impeachment in 117th congress be valid in the 118th? Wouldn’t the Dems have to pass another resolution?
III. Upon such articles being presented to the Senate, the Senate shall, at 1 o'clock after noon of the day (Sunday excepted) following such presentation, or sooner if ordered by the Senate, proceed to the consideration of such articles........
Biden will be sworn in at noon on the 20th.
Missed by an hour.
The Dems really want to put the Senate out of business, other than the trial, for say 6 months??
> Becomes moot at noon 1/20.
Nope. The Dems want their show trial.
When they have a majority in the Senate they’ll have a vote, run the agenda, get the usual breathless coverage, and NOT get a 2/3 vote to convict.
The proper response for the Pubs would be to drag it out as long as possible and have no approvals of slo joes nominees as long as the “trial” is ongoing.
What a ridiculous farce this government has become.
If someone gets impeached in the House before leaving office, can the Senate convict someone after they have left office?
