There seems to be only one area of common ground in our country today: agreement that something is wrong.
But regarding what that "something" is, and what we need to do, there is profound disagreement throughout the nation.
The violence in which the sacred ground of our nation's Capitol building was violated by unruly hooligans, resulting in the death of five, is a low point in our history.
Clearly, something is wrong. But we won't be able to fix it until we define it correctly.
Those on the right are entirely correct that the tone of violence, chaos and nihilism was set by the left.
Our cities and institutions have been vandalized and looted with impunity by the Black Lives Matter and antifa movements over the last several years, receiving support and endorsement by Democratic Party leaders and, sadly, many business leaders.
After a violent mob pulled down a statue of Christopher Columbus in Baltimore, a journalist asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, "Shouldn't that be done by a commission or the city council, not a mob in the middle of the night throwing it into the harbor?" Pelosi's response: "People will do what they do."
The speaker tore up, for all to see on international television, the president's State of the Union address after he finished discharging that constitutionally directed duty.
I, of course, could go on.
The point is that the answer to horrible behavior is not horrible behavior.
It's the absolute secularization of the nation, the purge of the Almighty from our public life, the crowning politicians king of the universe, that is destroying us.
Our democratic republic, our freedom, is vital. But with no absolutes, it deteriorates to chaos.
It is why President Lincoln refused to let the issue of the spread of slavery be submitted to democracy. There must be absolutes that precede politics.
It is the Ten Commandments where we learn that murder and theft are forbidden. When life and property are turned over to politics, the result is the chaos we now see.
The nation's high court, in many bad decisions over the last century, has undermined our Constitution as a limiting factor on federal government power. But the critical moment of detaching the nation as a free nation under God occurred in 1973, in the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion. The federal government took charge of defining life and giving women license to destroy it.
Then, in 2015, in the Obergefell v. Hodges decision, government seized the authority to define, or redefine, the sacred institution of marriage.
President Trump had a successful presidency in his effort to "Make America Great Again."
A powerful economy was restored and has sustained us through the COVID-19 crisis. Our courts are now filled with principled, conservative judges. The United States led the way to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and a new, unbelievable peace has been achieved in the Middle East.
But America cannot be great if America, as Alexis de Tocqueville said, is not good.
President Trump now has an opportunity to sign off on a powerful note that will totally change the tenor that Democrats want to set.
He cannot control Democrats' ability to politicize events and impeach him. But, if they do it, he can take control by resigning.
He can take the high, high ground, in contrast to their low, low ground. He can take responsibility for the horror that just occurred at the Capitol, because it occurred on his watch. And he can use the opportunity to declare that America must be a free nation under God, and that this is the great challenge that faces us going forward.
He can turn the reins of leadership, in these waning days, to Vice President Mike Pence, an upright Christian man and American patriot who could speak truth to the nation as the unruly Democratic mob takes charge and begins its long campaign to drag our nation into the abyss
And that is exactly what has happened here Star. With coordination of the media, big tech, liberal state governments, the DOJ, the courts up to and including the so-called supreme court, and others who hate this president for his exposure of their deep pockets the democrats do in fact have the ability to control everything. That is not America! Having a choice I would select, as 75 million others have selected, the MAGA government over the communist government who controls everything. Soon America will wake up.

For a time there they were replacing GOP leaders every few days - they’d appoint them and in no time they’d resign over some scandal.
I never took them seriously but I got chuckles over reports in the Purple Press that Frist (remember him?) was seen giving BJs to Obama in DC bath houses.
Both parties are gangrenous abominations.
Star Parker, drinking the bath water again, displays the warped mind.
Why did I waste my time reading and then commenting on it???
Crap!

Agreed. My respect for her just went over the cliff.
I guess it really is time for the GOPe to follow FNC....
Resigning is not the high ground (cf. “Richard Nixon”). Whatever Trump does will be spun by the Left as some form of either capitulation or insurrection.
Thank you for writing that. Exactly correct.
Our government, based on the the US Constitution, is designed to protect those rights. They are no longer being protected. Our rights, our freedoms and our liberties have been eroded and abused. The problem with America is simple. The people have let government to that to them.
Many Freepers will not support us.
I have friends who are in many ways like Star Parker, that is, they profess to be Christians, they have evidenced logical thinking processes in the past, they have never appeared to be in league with godless, abortion-loving worldlings such as populate the Democratic Party. Since covid-1984 and the election, and especially since the antifa false flag event at the Capitol in DC, I get a frustrating response when I try to discuss with them the truth.
They say, “I don't want to talk about politics.”
I say, “Can we talk about truth? Will you watch the video evidence?”
But they will have none of it. They are being willfully blind. One Democratic relative actually said to me, “I have my news sources and you have yours.” Gah! This means she KNOWS she is getting an entirely DIFFERENT set of ‘facts’ from her “news” source than I am, but she is content with that.
It just occurs to me that ACCEPTANCE by the world is now more important to these people than TRUTH.
Jesus said it would happen. God is about to give them all over to the BIG lie, the antichrist.
2 Thessalonians 2:9The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, 10and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. 11For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie
I don’t want President Trump have a ‘Masada’ moment. I want him to be the Roman commander building the ramp up to the fort to destroy those inside.
Trump Augustus Imperator!
I think you are in for the surprise of your life. Stay tuned.
Well I think this communist takeover has gone so far at this point that the military will have to put it down hard. Likely Trump is letting things play out as long as possible so the American people can be truly horrified and accepting of the intervention. Any normal person right now has to be looking around saying WTF?
My thoughts exactly.
What is wrong with these “conservative” hypocrites who are too timid and cowardly to assign the blame where it belongs: on John Sullivan, Jayden X and antifa/blm?
Very sad.
“Just as Goldwater set the stage for Reagan.”
I don’t think we can wait 16 years!
My dear FReepers, indulge me and tell me who the five who died are. I keep seeing five referenced.
I know of Ashli, the woman who was shot in the neck by Capitol Police. May she Rest In Peace.
Who are the other four and how did they die?
I wish, but
there will soon be nothing left to "kick in"
