I think perhaps you are not aware that most freepers don’t know who Hagar the Horrible was in the cartoon pages, nor have they seen ‘Animal House’.

You nailed it. All this overreaction and high dudgeon is cover; cover for the exposure of the government as weak, inept, and bloated.
A scheduled protest is usurped by a handful of unarmed yahoos who look like they’re cosplayers who are then let into the building by some capital police on one side while other police scramble to evacuate members of Congress. It is a perfect example of the ineptitude of the government.
You have a very interesting assessment and quite likely right.
I think a saner approach would be to have a deep rooted investigation that takes into account why this happened. Why did the average Joe go to DC and raise perfect hell? Then they need to reshape policy to prevent it again.
But the problem with that idea is they know the problem is massive corruption in DC, something they cannot correct, something they are all afraid of. It’s just easier to hang the voters and Trump. Then maybe it will all go away.
