Richard Barnett, Arkansas man pictured in Pelosi’s chair amid Capitol riot, faces 11 years in prison

Richard Barnett, 60, of Gravette, Arkansas, appeared in a photo taken last Wednesday inside the U.S. Capitol after a violent, pro-Trump mob stormed the building and ransacked lawmakers’ offices. In the photo, Barnett could be seen inside House Speaker Nancy' Pelosi's private office, draping his leg across her desk. By Tuesday, Barnett had made a different sort of appearance — in federal court.

Barnett appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Erin Wiedemann in Fayetteville on Tuesday to hear the charges against him. Among them is a charge that he unlawfully entered a restricted area with a lethal weapon — in this case, a stun gun.

Last week, Barnett was photographed sitting inside Pelosi’s office with one leg propped up, resting on her desk. After the break-in, Barnett told KFSM he was looking for the bathroom when he saw the door to Pelosi’s office was open.

"I sat down here in my desk. I’m a taxpayer. I’m a patriot. That ain’t her desk — we loaned her that desk," he reportedly said.

"And she ain’t appreciating the desk, so I thought I would sit down and appreciate the desk." Last week, the United States Department of Justice said Barnett and more than a dozen others were charged in federal court for crimes committed during last Wednesday’s violent riot.

Barnett was arrested in Arkansas. He is also is charged with disorderly conduct and theft of public property. If convicted on all charges, including the new lethal weapon count, he could be sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison

All of the non violent protesters should be pardoned. This is the type of event a pardon is most justified for as it heals the nation and it prevents prosecutions of political animus.

And yet - no breathless reporting of people who tore down statues, burned Minneapolis to the ground, or terrorized several city blocks for weeks to build a communist utopia...

“she ain’t appreciating the desk, so I thought I would sit down and appreciate the desk.”

Sounds fairly innocent.

It was Catch and release for the Sacred Riots.

One City dropped all charges.

Most dropped 85-90%

How did they get into her office? Offices in the House Office Buildings have heavy wooden doors that would be difficult to break down if they were locked.

Pled not guilty, let the government prove their case. Usually a federal prosecutor comes after you, you wanna pled guilty as fast as possible and hope the offer is generous. This case, way over charged, it’ll be a year after when it makes trial, it’s going to roll down to ‘I sat in a politician’s chair and they’re pissy about it. Is it our chair or their chair?’ that will be asked of the jury, and that’s going to be an easy call for the jury to make.

After only four years of investigations, participants in illegal spying on the Trump presidential campaign and the ensuing coup attempts have collectively faced a grand total of 0.5 years in prison (actual amount may vary as sentencing has been delayed until after Biden’s installation).

When the drunk from the Wendy’s drive through took the cop’s stun gun and shot at the cop the left declared the stun gun is not a deadly weapon.
