COVID-19: Police officers will be quicker to enforce COVID rules due to 'severe' crisis, says policing minister

Police will be quicker to enforce coronavirus rules during England's latest national lockdown due to the "severe" crisis the country faces, the crime and policing minister has told Sky News.

Kit Malthouse said he hoped there wouldn't be an increase in the number of fines or arrests due to COVID rule-breaching, but he added it was up to the public to abide by restrictions.

During the coronavirus crisis, police have been pursuing a "four Es" strategy, by engaging, explaining, encouraging and then, as a last step, enforcing lockdown measures.

With England now in the second week of a third national lockdown, Mr Malthouse said: "If people play by the rules and they recognise the police are doing a difficult job in very challenging circumstances, and cooperate, then hopefully the four 'Es'; encourage, all that kind of stuff, before we get to enforcement, will have an effect.

The government refused to speculate on any tightening of lockdown restrictions on Monday, but warned that the NHS is under "very significant pressure" as it tries to keep up with spiralling hospital admissions.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock was forced to clarify that buying a hot drink and going for a walk with a friend is within the rules, but urged people to cut any social contact that is "not absolutely strictly necessary" to keep cases down.

Meanwhile, Britain's most senior police officer has warned those who break coronavirus rules are "increasingly likely" to face fines as cases and deaths continue to soar.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick said it is "preposterous that anyone could be unaware of our duty to do all we can to stop the spread of the virus".

Writing in The Times, she said: "We have been clear that those who breach Covid-19 legislation are increasingly likely to face fines."

England is clearly nothing more then an insane asylum.

Being isolated on that island has made them mad.

But we’re not riding to their rescue when they implode this time. The Germans and the Muslims can have the place now. Good luck trying to make anyrhing useful of it.

I posted this on the flu-bros thread, but I think more people need to see how horrible things are in the UK, which has turned into a fascist state beyond belief. Remember, 1984 was set in England...

The Brits are now going to be allowed out of their homes only once a week. I have seen some videos of brutal police enforcement - even in people’s own homes - that you could imagine only in Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia. One man dragged out in front of his family by three officers and handcuffed face down in the snow, while the women in the family struggle with the other police...for the crime of having had six people in his house for dinner.

But one of the most horrible things is that in many cases the police found out about the “violators” not from the police drones or going around counting cars, but from their own neighbors. It’s true 1984 stuff, where neighbors and family are being trained to squeal on each other and you realize there is, as Winston says in the book, no one who can be trusted.

This is how they’ve progressed to being able to let the prisoners out only once a week. Even criminal prisoners in solitary get more. Oh, but you’re still supposed to stand in your doorway or window at 8:00pm every night and clap for the NHS (National Health Service) “heroes.” Your neighbors are probably watching to make sure you show up.

The Brits are law abiding and they innocently went along with it - it was for their own good, you know - and now they’re trapped.

My brother and his family are liberals. He “jokingly” calls me a Nazi. (Okay - that was 4 years ago - now he may think I really am.)

His daughter lives in London. Perhaps this will be a wake-up for the entire family.

I hope so. The police and even military intervene any time people try to protest or make their voices heard, and apparently the media is nothing but a steady drumbeat of government propaganda, so it’s going to be very hard for the Brits to wake up. Or do anything about it.

Absolutely....Mao’s successors, the Butchers of Beijing, are laughing their a$$es off right now. Assuming this virus is found all over China (not at all a safe assumption IMO) their attitude would be “hey,if we have a few million fewer 80 year olds to contend with all the better! We sure as hell ain’t gonna shut down our economy over it!”

There's a woman in my condo building (a fanatical “cat lady” I'm told) who absolutely would turn me in. She recently reported me to the DMV for fraudulently having a handicapped placard. What she didn't know was that it was my Cardiologist who signed the application. The DMV demanded a confirmation from my doctor, which he supplied...but it was a royal pain in the a$$ for me,and the doctor.

I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Nextdoor app, originally designed for finding lost dogs, warning neighbors about somebody snooping around their houses on a given block, or asking for a good plumber. But for awhile it was nothing but Karens “reporting” businesses or individuals for not wearing masks outer doors (which are not even legally required here) or for wearing masks “wrong” or for having mentioned visiting people in another state (that’s not against the law here, either). Oh, and there was recently one about “divisive” political signs, by which I assume they mean Trump signs, which most of us never dared to put up in the first place.

It seems like there’s an army of these Karens just waiting to be called up and get their marching orders.

Keep in mind when you hear people here decrying our lack of a general nationwide lockdown - the UK did have a nationwide lockdown and they still got high levels of infection. If lockdowns are the answer, why is the UK having high infection rates AFTER having locked everything down?

Listen to the science — but not the “science” that the proponents of lockdowns are saying we should listen to. Here in the US, we’ve unintentionally performed a scientific experiment on where there lockdowns are effective. We have “treatment” states like NY and CA where extensive lockdowns were implemented and “control” states where there was very little in the way of lockdowns, such as FL and TN. The data is now in, and the treatment states have comparable or even greater rates of infection than the control states. Good science would conclude that the lockdowns were not effective.

Dr. John Campbell, who does excellent reports on covid in the UK, says due to the low oxygen supplies they’re decreasing oxygen given to patients by up to 10 percent.

While that’s nothing drastic it is something to keep an eye on.
