MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Tony Evers has authorized the Wisconsin National Guard to support the state’s Capitol Police.
National Guard members will mobilize to help with security efforts at the Wisconsin State Capitol, according to a news release Monday.
The announcement comes hours after the FBI warned of plans for armed protests at all 50 state capitals and in Washington, D.C. ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. Less than a week has passed since a mob of pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday afternoon.
Crews in Madison have boarded up windows at the State Capitol building as a “proactive precautionary measure.”
“Once again, our state has asked our Citizen Soldiers in the Wisconsin National Guard to answer the call to keep our state, its citizens, and its institutions safe,” said Maj. Gen. Paul Knapp, Wisconsin’s adjutant general. “We ask a lot of our troops who must take leave from their civilian employers and their families, and I’m proud of the sacrifices they make on a daily basis to serve their fellow citizens.”
The troops are part of the state’s National Guard Reaction Force, which is made up of members who are trained to respond to requests on short notice.
Officials said the Guard will have a support role to local authorities and conduct a site security mission.

What makes our Governor worse is that he’s basically a mannequin. I mean, he’s the least productive and unassuming Governor probably in American history. Milwaukee and Chicago should just screw already and become it’s own state.
I spent some yrs in the National Guard. This seems a bit confusing. If the NG is activated, and operates in another state or territory, doesn’t it need to be under Federal Orders?

Also - NO Christmas Trees this season. The GOPe put up TWO trees - the Governor had them hauled away each time. There was no Christmas Tree in our Rotunda, as usual. People come from all over the STATE to see that tree! Tradition!
