Talk-Radio Owner Threatens to Fire Hosts Who Dispute Election Results

A media company that employs right wing talk-radio hosts, including Mark Levin, Dan Bongino, and Ben Shapiro, circulated a memo after the pro-Trump riots on Capitol Hill telling hosts to dial down allegations of election fraud, or else face termination.

Cumulus Media sent the internal memo to employees on Wednesday, according to Inside Music Media. The Atlanta-based company owns 416 radio stations throughout the country, many using a talk-radio format with local and national right-wing personalities.

“We need to help induce national calm NOW,” Cumulus’s executive vice president of content Brian Philips wrote in the memo. The company “will not tolerate any suggestion that the election has not ended. The election has been resolved and there are no alternate acceptable ‘paths.’”

Philips added, “If you transgress this policy, you can expect to separate from the company immediately.”

The overnight syndicated program “Red Eye Radio” headquarter out of WBAP in Dallas has completely jumped the shark. “Jan 6th is the darkest day in American history in 100 years”. “every republican needs to be ashamed. Trump has lied to America since the election” Etc. Boycott that show FOREVER!!

My dad has a shortwave radio back in the 70’s. While surfing the different meter bands, we could hear electronic jamming being done by the soviets. Also listened to VOA and radio free europe.

I bought a shortwave radio about 20 years ago to listen to out of market football games.

Started surfing the bands for any kind of news this weekend.

Any frequency suggestions?

I’m going to look up the Cumulus stations in my area so I won’t make the mistake of listening to them. Everybody else should do the same.

In Washington DC, it’s WMAL 105.9 FM and ESPN/WSBN 630 AM. Don’t see a listing for Maryland or Virginia.

While driving last night I heard Shapiro. He sure was following the rule. I switched the channel.

If I were Shapiro I would do the same thing. I tend to be a "planner" and for the first time in my career at my last job, the management was absolutely out of control and I felt they were "out to get me".

I remember one of my co-workers pulling me into a meeting room, closed the door, and unplugged the phone. He proceeded to tell me that once the management in this company figured out your were conservative and/or Christian, they were "out to get you" and that means make your life miserable so you leave on your own accord.

I had witnessed a few other co-workers leaving on their own accord and didn't put two and two together until this meeting happened. So, I began carefully planning my exit and found another job in about 4 months. It happened to be at a company I had left that had cleaned up their management mess. It took everything I had in me to not burn the bridge on the way out the door. I'm quite sure if a bunch of us that left banded together and got our notes together, we could go after this company for their disparate treatment of employees. Not worth it for me.

Oh, the company I went back to. They did clean up their mess quite well and it is a great conservative company to work for. Good ending to that story.

So as far as Shapiro is concerned, just start carefully planning your exit strategy and let the idiots making this decision live the consequences of their decision. Good or bad.

It’s not a matter of rubbing it in, but we need to be clear eyed about what did, and did not happen, over the last four years. Sessions/Wray/Barrstool and others were able to, in a sense, “get away” with what they did because a segment of the right was fooling themselves into thinking they were good guys.

I have a perfectly otherwise sensible friend on Twit who nevertheless believes even now that “Sessions saved Trump’s presidency.” SMH
