The Washington Post has reported that the outgoing Capitol Police Chief, Steve Sund, believes his efforts to secure the premises were undermined by a lack of concern from House and Senate security officials who answer directly to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate leader Mitch McConnell.

On several occasions...I’ve done the Lincoln Memorial to Capital building walk. That alone, is about 50 minutes and probably 10 minutes added for crossing streets.

Getting from the west end of the Washington Monument to the steps of the Capital building? That will take you around 35 minutes.

Whoever had the plan laid out....could NOT have been at the speech area, and were already over at the Capital building. This was planned....way ahead of the 6th.

Not sure what the point is about the speech attendees. Those who wanted to be at the Capitol building instead of the speech could’ve watched the speech on their smartphones. More importantly, the speech had nothing in to to incite anybody.

Cellphone service was nearly nonexistent.

We left the the Washington Monument area before President Trump finished his speech.

By the time we walked Constitution Ave. to the Capitol the protesters were already perched on the media tower and climbers were trying to reach the top of the scaffolding structure.
