You see, people are fed up. Not just with economic conditions. But with the political ones. We suspect that that frustration is tinged with fear. We know it is in our case.
The state is growing outright despotic…tyrannical. You have congressmen who make no bones about telling us that we should all be subject to arrest and detention by the military. This at a time when the definition of “terrorism” is expanding to include any activity that annoys the political class.
The government has been in the business of prohibiting personal behaviors, regulating
professional ones and eating out our substance since the beginning. It’s all only gotten worse over time.
But now the state is showing its true face. And it’s so horrible that many of us feel compelled to flee for our lives.

Baguio is not without its problems, though, mainly sometimes-smog in the mountain bowl where it sits, excessive rain, earthquakes and volcanoes! But I understand is a city largely rebuilt by American engineering after the war and earthquakes. Good for our Catholic faith as well as most Phil locations are. Medical facilities coming up to world standards with teaching university.
I noticed new houses in Baguio for around $125,000 U.S. which would be highly acceptable to me. Seem way cheaper than comparable around Cebu. Wish they had garages, tho. Only carports.
Hungary. My ancestral roots are there, and they are an openly Christian country.
That’s where my ancestral roots are as well. I would put it near the top of my most-admired countries list going forward.
Absolutely. The Hungarian constitution bans abortion and says that marriage is only between a man and a woman. Plus the food is good and Bela Lugosi is one of my favorite actors. ;-)
There’s nowhere left, really.
AMEN!!! ONLY to a Christian country!
I would prefer a place where global warming is a constant.......beachfront property would be a bonus.
I think they’re still cannibalistic.....
Chile is my #1 escape location.
They have had some violent anti-gov’t rioting there lately. For monetary & financial reasons.
Also, it’s massively prone to earthquakes due to it’s location to the Ring of Fire.
That said, if you need to leave - go south. Preferably, south of the equator.
But if you are not a citizen you can't own a house. But you can rent, or you can get a nice condo. Check out fort john Hayes.
Oh..remember.no guns without a license.
If you have family, it is best to settle near them.
Another thing...right now the cities are closed for travelers.
Ms. Lady Doc. Been to Baguio for that reason. Crowded. Temperature is perfect but a but just a bit humid. The main drag is hilly but thriving. Jolibee is not to my tastes.
But my to-be wife can buy a house. She already owns an older-style house there.
