WASHINGTON (ABC7) — There will be around 6,200 military personnel in D.C. by the end of the weekend, a massive response to the U.S. Capitol riot from earlier this week.
The Virginia National Guard currently has 1,000 personnel in D.C. as of Saturday. The Guard plans on adding another 1,000 by Sunday night, joining National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from states around the District.
"The VNG plans to provide about 2,000 personnel total to join a force of National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from neighboring states expected to reach 6,200 by the end of the weekend," according to a statement.

If Trump did order this why aren’t the uniparty screaming about it?
On the same day as the Capitol rally, there was one in Olympia, WA. The rally attendees managed to get inside the fence surrounding the Governor’s mansion (Inslee supposedly has a home on Bainbridge Island and spends most of his time there). They said their piece and left peacefully.
So, when the Washington State Legislature meets this week, guess what Fuhrer Inslee did? Activated the Washington National Guard to protect the legislators.
“The question is: “What’s going on?””
Exactly. I haven’t heard of any attacks coming. What are THEY going to be doing??
Maybe they don’t want to call attention to what they’re planning?
Probably cause they are making exit plans?
They’ll be showing people where to park and putting up floral arrangements.
The Democrats are experts at lies of omission.
They’re not afraid of us, or America’s enemies would not be proposing redistribution of our wealth plus more gun control, gun/ammo registration, and other infringements on our God-given and constitutionally-protected rights.
I hope Congress thinks carefully about the stupidity of their own actions. If not, I’m more than okay with the American people returning to DC and making our point more clearly.
Just theater/propaganda for the public.
“So, why do they need all of those NG’s, and what are they afraid of?”
They’re afraid that someone might read the Constitution.
Plot twist: they’re not to keep us out, but to keep “them” in?
They were there yesterday, standing around on sidewalks, strung out, not in formations. There was video up yesterday.
No weapons, no riot gear. Very bored looking. Saw something about an exercise.
That’s what I want to know. Have they been nationalized? Under whose command authority are they now placed?
That back stabbing b@st@rd won’t be getting many votes
How can DC mayor call in troops from other states legally, would it not require the president?
> Do we know exactly who ordered this? <
Great question. And of course the article doesn’t say.
I find it hard to believe that a governor of one state can just send his National Guard into another jurisdiction without permission. So the orders must have come from Trump himself.
And it’s worth noting that the DC Guard is commanded by the president and not by the DC mayor or anyone else.
No offense. Not worried. It’s the guard. When they call out the marines, and the marines show up, then I’ll be concerned.
Guard is not the reserves. Reserves are not active duty. Lots of active duty aren’t combat trained. And lots that are combat trained aren’t special forces.
6 years of service taught me that sometimes a couple of good ole boys with shot guns are more dangerous.
They’re not afraid of Donald Trump, who has already said there will be a peaceful transition. They’re afraid of his supporters. Four died after a quarter million people swarmed the capital. At that rate, a significant battle casualty count of 5,000 would not be reached without having the entire US population hashing it out in DC. Which suggests battle, insurrection, coup, is not the efficient way to go. I think everyone should stay home and work out the best way, in their individual situations, to starve the beast and bring it to its knees. However, this takes personal sacrifice, which is why it hasn’t happened here in almost 250 years. Very few living Americans have much of a feel for tyranny and how to oppose it.
I like that idea.
Exactly, this isn’t about Trump anymore.
