The way is works with say Hannity is he would be off the air and not able to do anything public for six months.(other than his radio and stuff allied with it) That's usually the normal contract. That enables the losing company time to replace a valuable asset.

In Hannity's case it wouldn't matter that much since his radio audience is far bigger than tv and he makes the bulk of his money in radio.

But most on TV are not in that position.
