Today is a tremendous milestone for the Gab community.
After over a year of work Gab is finally migrated to our own in-house servers. If you talk to anyone in the technology industry they will tell you that this is no easy task. Most technology startups have the luxury of using third-party cloud hosting providers like Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and others.
Gab does not have this luxury.
Over the past four years we have been banned from multiple cloud hosting providers and were told that if we didn’t like it we should “build our own.”
So, that’s exactly what we did.
Gab isn’t just building an alternative social network. We’re building an alternative internet. From hosting infrastructure to web browsing and more: Gab is the market leader when it comes to defending free speech against Silicon Valley tyranny online.
For a typical Gab user our new infrastructure means a noticeable improvement on site performance and speed that will scale as Gab continues to grow.
Today’s accomplishment is only possible because of people like you.
Gab is 100% funded by our community of people, not big corporate sponsors. On Gab you are the customer, not the product being sold. We’d like to send a special thank you to our donors, investors, and GabPRO customers who made today possible. Thank you also to our team of engineers behind the scenes who worked tirelessly for over a year to make this happen.
The war for free speech on the internet has only just begun, but today a big battle was won.
I cannot speak for Telegram as I don't use it, however Parler DOES NOT require a cellphone number to sign up. You can just as easily use an email address like I do. I've been on Parler since it came to be.
Those who complain about "requirement" for a phone# or photo ID have hit the "VERIFY" button during the registration process. You do NOT need to hit that button.
I just visited gab and I like their interface better than the others. All I find there tho are vids...is there a chat or a forum or something?
Gab is completely unresponsive. Their service STILL sucks bollocks.
“...I just visited gab and I like their interface better than the others. All I find there tho are vids...is there a chat or a forum or something?...”
There are groups, news, etc. but right now with the huge influx they’re experiencing, everything is slow or not even coming up...it’s tough to get to them. Give it awhile to settle down, then revisit and explore.
Sounds great and something that all Conservative sites need to do. Perhaps they can partner with others? One good thing to come out of all this fascist behavior by the Left is that it will separate the wheat from the chaff and force us to create our own networks. We need to get on wealthy donors to start a TRUE Conservative TV station.
I wouldn't have one either, but my old 3G plain phone was being interfered with by somebody's network booster. Calls wouldn't go through. I couldn't manually update my roaming capabilities until I drove a few blocks down the street, and the booster icon fell of my screen. Verizon said the only way I could get rid of the problem was move to a smart phone (4G). I use Apple computers, and so bought the cheapest iPhone they had. That was about 6 years ago. I hate all smart phones, and the weird thing is, this phone has worse reception (two bars), than my old 3G did. My son said it's because the internal antennas take up so much space. Soooo, when my calls were regularly being dropped, I called Verizon, and bitched about it, and they sent me a free network booster ($250) because I've been a customer of theirs for almost 20 years.
I’m trying to cancel my amazon account but am having no luck. None of the tutorials I read correspond to the actual page. Anyway, I wrote them an email telling them they’re “canceled”, Lol!
Which brings up a good point... does Free Republic keep their own servers? (I assume that’s why they do the fund raisers every quarter.)
Yes FR is privately owned and not part of a 3rd party cloud network. THANK GOD FOR THAT.
That would be great!
Nothing short of a multi-comm, distributed environment with asymmetric client/user identity is almost “resilient”.
Any techies here willing to provide PGP guidance and knowledge of the latest algos?
We should all have our public keys on FR with some type of support for ping-list downloads.
This isn’t about hiding our identities. We’re already fully exposed. It’s about some degree of assurance of who we’re talking to should things get fractured.
But also a single point of failure.
We’re building an alternative internet.
Applause
“That’s one of the big benefits of Amazon or Oracle or Microsoft’s “cloud” systems”
Technically. But since they HATE us and don’t want us, it’s sort of a moot point.
Gab going all guns blazing on Twitter right now.
Gab, I like the cut of your jib!
