Because the House plans to pass articles of impeachment prior to him becoming a private citizen. Schumer will go forward with the trial to get to the disqualification penalty. That penalty only requires a majority vote, not 2/3 as is the case for removal. Guess who has the majority after Jan 20?

What I've been saying on this thread, what my comments here are predicated upon, is that Trump could resign BEFORE impeachment, in order to preclude it.

One can only impose a penalty on a conviction, not just an indictment (impeachment). So Trump has to be convicted (2/3 votes) by the Senate in order for the senate to add the additional penalty of ineligibility to run for office again. Democrats are no where near the 67 votes for a conviction.

There is no factual evidence upon which to impeach President Trump.His speech transcript shows this.

2) Prosecutors in Italy have discovered two Dominion Agents who manipulated US election data for the Biden campaign. One has confessed and a second is chraged with criminal offences. Its all over the news in Europe, but this impeachment crap is meant to provide cover for Biden until after his "indogurination." Biden will have nothing but a Bizarro Presidency.

Agree. And this impeach Trump is to further incite us and an attempted trap. We should not fall for any of their traps ever again. We must be ahead of them and outwit them. My husband and I looked very closely at the video of the shooter and then found a few side profiles of Schummer. It really looks like it could be Schummer. The similarities are compelling.
