House Democrats draft article of impeachment charging Trump with 'incitement of insurrection': Fast Track introduction as early as Monday and a full House vote as early as middle of next week

House Democrats on Friday discussed moving forward with efforts to impeach President Donald Trump a second time, circulating the draft of a single article citing "incitement of insurrection" that they could introduce as early as Monday and hold a full House vote on as early as the middle of next week.

The article charges Trump with "willfully inciting violence against the government of the United States" with his comments at the rally outside the White House that it says "encouraged—and foreseeably resulted in—imminent lawless action at the Capitol."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a lengthy conference call with her caucus Friday on how to proceed with just 12 days to go before Trump will leave office.

"The president chose to be an insurrectionist," Pelosi told members at the start, according to a source on the call.

Earlier, she sent a letter saying Democrats should pursue impeachment unless Trump resigned "immediately."

Read the Constitution, it's not about removing him from office it's the fact the senate can vote as punishment to bar him from running for public office ever again. So the proceeding will continue after he leaves office.

I’ve got a bad feeling they got the votes in the Senate. Once McConnell is on board with it, it’s over.

If he’s not holding an office, how can he be subject to impeachment?>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Exactly. President Trump is in transition. President Trump is not actually the office holder in full measure.

In this case Presidnt Trump does not fullfill all of the elements of a President for the Impeachment Process.

PDJT is leaving the building.

They cannot impeach the president. Unless they want to impeach Joe Biden.

At this point President Trump is a quasi President.

That’s actually a very good argument.

I’ve read the transcript of his speech. There is no call for violence at all. In fact Trump emphasizes “peacefully” going to the Capitol.

“Why would he even want to hold office again”

President Trump strikes me as a guy who loves challenge.

If, just prior to impeachment proceedings, Trump resigned and handed off to Pence, I would think it’s a certainty they can’t impeach him.

I think they're furious that he won't concede. I think they want him out before the 20th so they can spare themselves the spectacle of having an inauguration without the previous president attending.

Despite what they may say publicly, they very much want his concession. Otherwise, you can't marginalize those who refuse to recognize Biden as the "President". You are going to have 75 million Americans who look at "President" Biden and simply shrug their shoulders; if President Trump doesn't recognize him as the winner, why should any of us?

Trump wouldn't resign; that's what the history books would record. (That's what the Democrats want.)

Biden will in all likelihood be sworn in on 01/20 and his predecessor isn't going to be there. This isn't a small point; that his predecessor hasn't conceded the race is a very big deal. Biden will be a very weak "president" from the first moment of his "presidency".

I have read the Constitution from time to time, thank you for the suggestion anyway.

If he leaves office before 1/20, they can't impeach him because he's not an official. That is what we're discussing here. And if he's not President, and they can't impeach, how can they "vote to bar him from office?" Is that not a bill of attainder?

A Parler executive, Amy Peikoff, Parler Chief Policy Officer, was just on Tucker show and she said apple is going to remove the app from their app store

Google has already removed them

Their servers are on Amazon, and this woman is going to speak to them today

If they kick them off their servers, they will have to find other servers.

CNN is fighting to take Fox News off the air.

For insurrection.

They are pressuring the 6 major cable companies to remove FN.

Tucker said it is amusing.

If they start proceedings before he leaves office they can try and do it. They want to keep him from running again and this is the way.
You can be sure it will go right to the court. Who knows.

Trump wouldn't resign; that's what the history books would record. (That's what the Democrats want.)

If he's impeached, the history books record that, and the Dems want that much more than a resignation just days before his term ends. It would leave them with a mouthful of feathers. (They'd only get the tip of his tail.)

Biden will in all likelihood be sworn in on 01/20 and his predecessor isn't going to be there. This isn't a small point

True, it isn't a small point, but if his predecessor is President For A Day Mike Pence, then his predecessor will be there. No doubt glad handing every 'rat he meets.

Yes the Dems are afraid of the next 12 days.

I hear a rather comprehensive chorus of opera singing from Italy.

All of this impeach crap is to keep the Italian opera out of the news.

IS there not a journalist left at the NY Post?

Somebody here on FR pointed out that Pence HAS to be there.

(If he's AWOL because he thinks the election is fraudulent, then the obvious question is going to be, "Then why didn't you do something about it when you could have?")
