Washington, D.C.’s leading federal prosecutor did not rule out charging President Donald Trump following the assault on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of the president.
In a Thursday press call, Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin told reporters that the Department of Justice will consider lodging criminal charges targeting any individual for playing a role in Wednesday’s riot. At one point, one reporter asked if President Trump could face charges, to which Sherwin replied: “I don’t want to sound like broken record. We’re looking at all actors here.”
“Anyone who had a role and where the evidence fits a crime,” he added.

Sherwin is full of shit. The rioters, esp. the conservative stupid ones, were already at the Capitol, in part. Those who committed acts of vandalism and violence should be prosecuted and I’m sure Sherwin will do that with relish as he wants to keep his job under the new senile president and AG.
It will be interesting to see if the FBI, DC and Capital police and competent law enforcement people will be able to positively identify the vandals/rioters, no matter who they are. Seems they have been having one helluva time doing that with the Antifa Marxists/ BLM Marxists-street thugs, and Communist Revolutionary Party (RCP - Maoists) and their “Resist Fascism/Refuse Fascism” riots, arson, and attacks on the police over the past few years.
In DC, law enforcement, when it comes to the White Marxist Leftists and Black Marxist/racist terrorists, sucks big time. I’ve covered many demonstrations as a reporter and most of the time the DC Police knew who the violent ones were and arrested them, but too often swept up a lot of innocent bystanders leading to millions of dollars awarded in law suits against them (and this was planned by the left since the MayDay Riots of May 1971 - I was there).
I have a special Certificate in Police Science. My teachers included famous and veteran FBI, Police, Sec. Service, and lawyers and one really cool former FBI agent turned judge.
Today, I have not seen a police, FBI, or Govt attorney handle the Left rioters, arsonists, and killers on any level of professional competence.
Hints re my teachers and or colleagues included: One of the IRS agents who nailed Al Capone; attorney in the Skokie Nazi March case; the FIRST FBI agent who alerted the head of the NY SAC office about the Nazi submarine landed saboteurs in NJ/NY; a Deputy Chief of Police, and for shits and grins, several FBI agents and Asst Director of the FBI for work I did in an undercover capacity, undercover drug and anti-communists undercover agents and homicide detectives, as well as OSS/CIA agents/leaders, WW2 veterans from all fronts, and a few Brits (SAS) thrown in for more flavor.
We have a tremendous problem in getting intelligence law enforcement LEADERS at al levels of local, state and federal enforcement.
Once again, leftist democrats in the deep state immediately resort to lawfare to attack and hurt their enemies all the while not executing lawfare against their paramilitary army called blm and antifa.

This is the same Michael Sherwin who declined to prosecute anyone in the Rand Paul attack.
And even DC Mayor Bowser, was complaining on his lack of prosecutions for the May riots.
But he is going to prosecute Trump for holding a rally ?
