Twitter shares fell after the site temporarily banned President Donald Trump for his dangerous rhetoric when a mob of MAGA fans stormed the US Capitol at his behest.
The social media giant suspended Trump's account for 12 hours on Wednesday evening after Washington, DC, was plunged into chaos as hundreds of the president's followers staged riots both outside and within the halls of Congress.
Twitter's share price slipped 1.8 percent by closing bell on Thursday - a drop perceived to be related to its actions against Trump.

There is a great Black Mirror episode about the future of Social Credit Scoring that shows what we are becoming. It is not enough to remain silent. You must actively praise progressive Marxism or you will be destroyed. As they say, “silence is violence.”
I had somebody on Facebook start asking me questions about the area I live in because he was thinking of moving to this part of Spain (he’s already living here, just further East). I didn’t mind answering his questions and I even accepted a friend request, something I rarely do.
The next morning on my timeline is a link he made to a NY Times article and a comment on how much damage Trump has done to America. I immediately unfriended and blocked him.
We need a good alternative to Facebook.
I was never much of a twitter user. I set up an account once, but never sign in. I’ll follow a link to twitter occasionally. Mostly to see Trump quotes. But Parler is a complete substitute for Twitter. If I could remember what my twitter sign on was, I’d delete my twitter account.
But facebook is harder. I don’t use it much. I avoid it because of FB’s political stances. Haven’t updated my profile in about 10 years. But I’ve got connections to old friends and family there, that I don’t want to lose. I very much want to delete my facebook account. I don’t see Parler as a substitute for Facebook, even if I could get my friends and family to move.
There, I’m off Twitter completely.
Look what deplorable did to Fox News! Why not twitter? Don’t support the enemy.
