Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday said the company would block President Donald Trump from posting to his Facebook and Instagram accounts for an indefinite amount of time and at least until President-elect Joe Biden assumes the Oval Office.
“We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great,” Zuckerberg wrote in a post on his Facebook page. “Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”
The suspension represents Facebook’s most aggressive action yet against Trump during his four-year term. Calls had been mounting for Twitter and other social media platforms to shut down the president’s account or take other extreme action.
Facebook, Twitter, Snap and Google’s YouTube began taking steps on Wednesday to limit Trump’s posts on their platforms after he continued to make false claims about the results of the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Facebook on Wednesday had said it would lock Trump’s account for 24 hours, preventing him from posting on the service. Facebook-owned Instagram also locked the president’s account on the service.
Twitter locked Trump’s account on Wednesday evening for 12 hours and warned that it could suspend him permanently if he continued to breach the company’s civic integrity policy. A spokesperson for Twitter told CNBC on Thursday that Trump has now removed the offending tweets, “and the 12-hour clock is on.” The lock could be removed around 3 p.m. ET.
Twitter declined to comment on whether it would also move to block Trump from posting to his account.

That’s what patriots fought and died for...corporate control of communications.
They’re ingratiating themselves to their new communist rulers that desperately want a piece of their action. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have been ordered to do this by the incoming PTB.

Wake up and stop relying on the enemy’s communications media.
Of course, it’s too late for this, but I’m thinking NPR and PBS, as government-funded networks, should have been designated as the official media platforms of whomever sits in the Oval Office.
A Democrat leaves office, a Republican comes into office, the attrition rate at NPR and PBS should exceed 95%. The programming could be Sesame Street or whatever, but if the President doesn’t like a broadcast, heads should roll. If the president wants to get a message out, don’t tweet it, put something out on NPR. The President says “Jump” and he’s got TV channels and radio stations saying “How High?”
But the opportunity for that is gone.
FB and the other social communication platforms need to be called on the carpet for this. They are either there for free and open popular communication or they are not. If they can do this to the president, they can and will do it to anyone else. That’s too much power in too few hands. Of course, someone will tell me it’s a private company and it can do as it pleases. I get that. Maybe we can hope for a private company that will provide something similar that is truly a free forum without an agenda. I haven’t looked at Parler or MeWe. Maybe its time to abandon FB and Twitter, etc. and go elsewhere.

I’m on Facebook everyday for family and friends and never knew Trump was on Facebook.
They are no longer afraid, the Dems are now in charge and our country is now headed into a s-hole of Socialism!
Someone remind me what The First Amendment of the Constitution says.
Eliminate Facebook.
Big Tech is feeling their oats. They seem sure that 230 will stay on the books.
