The People are not to be Allowed to Govern Themselves - Too Dangerous

That's all that's going on.

The people caught the oligarchs by surprise four years ago.

That's not to happen again.

They have now seized back (by whatever means necessary) both the Executive and Legislative powers.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

This should not be a surprise to anyone.

Go back and read through the U.S. Constitution. The founders of this country were adamantly opposed to the idea of "self-governance" in the form of democratic rule. Our founding documents are filled with all kinds of checks and balances that are specifically aimed at LIMITING "self-governance" as we know it today.

For what it's worth, the word "democracy" is nowhere to be found in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence.

Go back and read through the U.S. Constitution.

You are 50% right.

The founders did not want self-governance....but they also did not want centralized control and big gov't.

Most of the constitution is limiting the federal gov'ts power by defining it narrowly. That was not to limit self-governance, but to limit centralized gov't.

The ruling class have already blown the constitutional limits on federal power away. There are few limits remaining.

Now, they are trying to sell centralized control as "self-governance" and "democracy" when we know the votes of the people will not matter once they have total control.

Self-governance is a con-job by the communists.

I am a realist. I keep hearing that but I am sceptical we will ever see it. Everyone will just go underground and hide to finish out their lives collecting their check with self preservation. This is a priority over our future generations no matter what some might claim. Self first, the future not their problem...
