"There is one particular resident who got the apartment from her ex husband, has a good job now, but still refuses to pay any rent. They should have the right to get her hauled out."

I have a similar case. Granddaughter falsely claims she lived in the apt with grandma in the rent controlled apt. Rent is about $300 for a 950sq ft apt. She's been there 14 years now and doesn't pay rent. Impossible to evict her. Meanwhile she has given us 47 apartment violations which we can't fix because she does not allow access to the apartment.

Landlords have no rights in NYC.

The right kind of Mayoral candidate would be able to win election by properly exposing this legal loophole that allows for squatters in New York, or any town.
It’s crazy that a tenant can cause a landlord to lose everything from owning that property as you describe it.

She has to leave the apartment sometime - keep snapping keys off in the lock.
