Murder surged in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, New Orleans, and numerous other Democrat-controlled cities during 2020.
The surge was great enough that Byron York observed 2020 was possibly “the worst one year increase in murder ever recorded.”
For example, as of December 20, 2020, the Atlanta Police Department indicated there had been 154 murders in Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ (D) Atlanta, up from 95 in 2019.
And there were 768 killed in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago January 1, 2020, through December 27, 2020, according to the Chicago Tribune. For comparison, the Chicago Police Department noted 491 homicides in the city during 2019.
The Dallas Police Department noted as of December 29, 2020, there had been 262 murders in Mayor Eric Johnson’s (D) Dallas. There were 211 murders in the city during all of 2019.
As of December 31, 2020, the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department listed 174 murders in Mayor Quinton Lucas’ (D) Kansas City for 2020, which is up from 151 in 2019.
The New Orleans city government indicates there were 185 homicides in Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s (D) New Orleans January 1, 2020, through December 30, 2020, an increase of 61 of over the 124 witnessed in 2019.
And Washington, DC’s Metropolitan Police Department shows 198 homicides in Mayor Muriel Bowser’s (D) D.C. for 2020, up from 166 in 2019.
On December 29, 2020, Crimealytics’ Jeff Asher reported similar surges in murder in Democrat-controlled cities such as Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Oakland, St. Louis, and Philadelphia, among others:
On June 29, 2020, Breitbart News reported that the Washington Post tried to undermine President Trump’s claim that the “20 most violent cities are Democrat-run.” Through tireless research the Post was able to show only 17 of the top 20 most violent cities in the U.S. had Democrat mayors.

Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago Sees 55% Rise in Homicides in 2020

Over the course of the year 2020, Chicago suffered 3,237 shooting incidents, Time reported on December 30, an increase of more than 50 percent from the 2,120 incidents reported in the same time frame in 2019.
The city also saw an astounding 55 percent increase in homicides during the same period.
Chicago shootings totaled 4,005 between January 1 and December 16, 2020, the Chicago Tribune reported last month.
In just one weekend, from December 26-27, 27 people were shot in Chicago, seven of them fatally.
Violence against police has been especially affected. The Chicago Sun-Times highlighted in early December that Chicago police officers had faced a three-fold increase in shootings directed at officers.
“Chicago police officers have been shot at 71 times this year, and 10 officers have been struck by bullets,” the article noted. “In the same period of 2019, officers were shot at 18 times, with three officers struck by gunfire.”
While Chicago’s Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot has stated she does not support the Defund the Police movement, in October, she proposed cutting $80 million from the budget of the Chicago Police Department.
The record-level violence experienced in Chicago in 2020 was replicated in other Democrat-run cities.
New York City had 1,824 shooting victims as of December 20, 2020, compared to 896 in the same period in 2019, and a 39 percent increase in homicides, leading the New York Times to report 2020 as the city’s deadliest year in “nearly a decade.”
It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
It would be nice to add another column to that table, which is the % democrat vote of those cities, or %(D) on the city council, or other such.

I am not in favor of innocent people dying anywhere. However, almost all the murders in New York occur in feuds and drug wars between gang members and drug dealers who are themselves killers.
I lived in New York City for a long time, and not even once did I see anyone getting shot let alone get shot at by anybody.
Normal, law abiding people go about their business with very little fear of getting shot.
In addition, you get what you vote for. If New Yorkers continue to vote for totally deranged, far left lunatics like DeBlasio, why would they complain if murders skyrocket? They knew what they were voting for, no? DeBlasio was defunding the police by $1 Billion last time I looked.
Staten Island is a great place to live, outside the area in the immediate vicinity of the Staten Island Ferry terminal, which seems to have quite a few drug dealers.
Wasn't it in Staten Island where Ronnell Wilson shot two plain clothes NYPD cops in the back of the head in the car during a drug deal sting?
Stupid research, as there is nothing to support the headline. For this article to hold any water, it needs to show 2019 with a Republican major and 2020 with a Democrat mayor. Otherwise, it is more likely that murders went up because of other factors (e.g., Covid-19).
In many cases the families of those murdered are related to murderers themselves; while this violence occasionally impacts normals, for the most part it is drug trade violence killing Democrats/socialists. Post-birth abortions, so to speak...

Right; these deaths (in many cases) are the solution to crime, not the problem - de facto private executions of drug dealers (by other drug dealers).
When Rome realized they could never defeat the German tribes, they were reduced to meddling in affairs to the north to the extent of supporting the weaker side in their internal conflicts (to prolong them, guaranteeing the deaths of as many Germans - of any tribe - as possible). That is what our government is doing now; there is no intention of stopping these killings, as it achieves a similar goal to the government’s abortion solution for these very same people.

The answer to that is a resounding YES.
Not to mention Dem run cities account for most of the murders in America even before 2020, when BLM fueled murders hit new highs.

You’re using a mighty wide brush to paint folks with that name, amico. Would that also include your Italian predecessors that left Italy to come to America? Millions upon millions of people have been leaving someplace to go someplace else for centuries...I’m guessing to find a better, maybe safer way of life. That’s an awful lot of people to call bitches.
And yes, the wife and I are some of those bitches that are leaving a city that has been our home (and our deceased parent’s) for close to 100 years. We’re in the mega-Democrat city of Charlotte, and 3 out of 4 people here voted for Biden. We’re in Injun Country and that needs to change. We’ll stay in NC, but we’re looking at heavy Trump-voting counties, preferably with recently passed 2nd Amendment sanctuary resolutions (approx 74 out of 100!), and Conservative county leadership and Sheriff.
I will admit...I don’t like Charlotte...never have...and the only reason I’ve stayed is family. Parents have passed, siblings have moved out of state (they’re Lefties anyway), and the kids are gone. Really nothing holding us here except our Docs....and we can visit them from out of town.
Believe it or not...my preference is to move to Sicily...but the wife ain’t having it, so NC it is. I commend you on wanting to stay and root out the evil, but the wife and I are too old to wage an extended battle. Don’t get me wrong...I’ll defend us if someone pulls a gun on us, but there just aren’t that many years left for us.
