I am not against vaccines, but I am also undecided about getting this particular vaccine given the pros and cons that I am reading.
One question this article begs is why would so many that are closest to this virus refuse it?
Is it because of the politics that were played with the vaccine by the media and left? Let's face it - they told us repeatedly in an effort to damage Trump that there could not be a vaccine prior to the end of the year and that if there was it would not be safe.
Is it because these health care workers feel there is more risk from the vaccine than the virus?
What a strange turn of events......
I got my regular flu shot 2 years ago my nurses is sofa king hawt and a big time flirt loves my sense of humor anyways i digress my arm shoulder were sore for a 8 months
Myself, my wife, one daughter, and a niece, all RNs, are refusing the vaccine. In my department at the hospital I work at, 11 of 13 have refused.
I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
Many do not trust the CDC and FDA. They have become politicized by the left and are now just propaganda mouthpieces.
Your contention “they are closest to the virus” is false.
The authorities who have been crying "wolf" since March 2020 are now surprised that people aren't buying any of it.
My dentist (wrapped from head to foot in protective gear) told me last week she wasn't sure if she was going to get the vaccine; what on earth should be my hurry to do this?
“Is it because these health care workers feel there is more risk from the vaccine than the virus?”
I suspect this is true. I know 3 RNs and my DIL is a patient care tech in a COVID ward. The three RNs have caught it and recovered with no significant symptoms, and my DIL hasn’t even caught it - after 6 months working full time in a wing dedicated to COVID!
I plan to take the vaccine, BTW. But it is hard to fault my DIL’s skepticism given her constant exposure without catching anything.
And, why is it being said that even if you get the vaccine, you’ll STILL have to wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from other people?
There may be more to it than what I’ve read, but at this particular moment, I’m becoming less inclined to be a “polite decliner”.
then i’ll get mine sooner - if knucklehead Newsom can figure out a plan.
Nearly 25 years of anesthesia and critical care. I refused it.
They shouldn’t have to have the shot unless they want to stay employed in healthcare.
Refuse the shot and go mow lawns for a living.
“Survey respondents leaning against taking the vaccine said, among other reasons, that they were concerned how politics influenced the development of the vaccine, the newspaper reported. “
Yeah - WHAT politics?
Because Trump championed it?
Because the governments are mandating it be used before reopening society?
Are they worried about the efficacy/safety but the PRESS won’t report it as such because that would be anti-vax and promptly get them banned from Facebook?
Didn’t Bill Gates promise to test the vaccines on Africans before providing it to Western countries?
This seems to be the consensus of a small number of vocal NYC healthcare nutjobs. I promise that it’s not even on the radar around Houston’s giant medical community, or anywhere else that I’m aware of. They are - e-l-a-t-e-d - to get COVID vaccinated. I will be too.
First of all look at who is refusing. Not all heath care workers have medical backgrounds. Those who care for covid patients daily may have a different take than the receptionist who checks you into the ER. Health care workers are not immune to reading crackpot internet sites anymore than those who post here are. some have other reasons for not taking it. It comes down to a risk benefit decision for every individual.
The govt can’t even send out $600 checks correctly so I’m not surprised people are not eager to take a shot from the govt that’s rushed thru testing
A friend who works in a hospital in an office job so not exactly front line got it and said it was no problem. I’m still leery though. I won’t be in line to get it for quite a while so we’ll see how the early guinea pigs are doing when that time arrives.
Maybe if they hadn’t lied to us time after time ...
I don’t know about California (except that it’s the land of fruits and nuts), but in New Hampshire the demand for vaccine among healthcare workers is very high.
