COVID Has Killed Her Hundreds of Thousands, But Abortion Has Killed Her Tens of Millions

According to the respected Worldometer website, COVID-19 deaths in 2020 reached 1.8 million, a truly tragic and devastating number. There is no denying that we have experienced a real pandemic, and many of us have lost friends and loved ones to this virus in the last 12 months. Yet, for every person who died of COVID (or, whose death was hastened by COVID), almost 25 died by abortion. This is as staggering as it is horrifying. These babies died in the womb by human choice.

Prof. Thomas Williams summarizes these year-end statistics, also looking at other, major causes of death: “Abortion was once again the number-one cause of death globally in 2020, with a record 42.7 million unborn babies killed in the womb, according to data provided by Worldometer.

“As of December 31, 2020, there were 42.7 million abortions performed in the course of the year, Worldometer revealed, while 8.2 million people died from cancer, 5 million from smoking, and 1.7 million of HIV/AIDS.”

Overall, Williams writes, “Globally, there were more deaths from abortion in 2020 than all deaths from cancer, malaria, HIV/AIDS, smoking, alcohol, and traffic accidents combined, according to Worldometer statistics.”

The numbers are so high that they are absolutely numbing.

But every number represents a precious human life, snuffed out in the womb by choice.

Yet there is more. According to the pro-abortion, Guttmacher Institute, an organization not known for inflating abortion statistics, the numbers are far worse. The website states: “Roughly 121 million unintended pregnancies occurred each year between 2015 and 2019.

“Of these unintended pregnancies, 61% ended in abortion. This translates to 73 million abortions per year.”

Who can even grasp figures like this?

The entire populations of Thailand (70 million), the UK (68 million), France (65 million), Italy (60 million), Tanzania (60 million), South Africa (59 million), Myanmar (54 million), Kenya (54 million), South Korea (51 million), and Colombia (51 million) are each lower than the number of annual abortions as estimated by Guttmacher.

If those figures are right, abortion wipes out the equivalent of entire, significant countries every single year. Gone!

If the lower, Worldometer figures are right, with as many as nearly 43 million abortions in 2020, that number is roughly equivalent to the total population of Spain (46 million) or Uganda (46 million) or Argentina (45 million) or Ukraine (44 million), just to mention a few. Abortion, in total numbers, would virtually wipe one of these countries off the map each year.

Or compare the number of abortions to the number of those killed in war. According to a 2003 article in the New York Times, “At least 108 million people were killed in wars in the twentieth century.” This number, too, pales in comparison to the number of lives snuffed out by abortion.

Of course, this does not minimize the pain and tragedy of each life lost in war. Or the pain and tragedy of each life lost in a car accident. Or each life lost to heart disease or cancer or COVID. But it does remind us that abortion is an unspeakable evil carried out on a massive scale worldwide.

Yet much of the Church worldwide seems almost oblivious to this, while here in America, we tend to care about abortion every four years during our presidential elections, doing little else for the pro-life movement the rest of the time.

I do understand that, when it comes to worldwide abortion statistics, in some cases, abortions are a government-enforced choice. This happens in China, despite the fervent opposition of the expectant parents, who are forced to comply.

There are also heartbreaking cases involving rape or incest or the extreme poverty of the parents, whose children already are on the verge of starvation. And there are the abortions performed to avoid bringing a severely-handicapped child into the world, who might only suffer a few months of agony before dying.

Not every abortion decision can be dismissed as cavalier or selfish, even if every decision to abort can be morally opposed based on the humanity of the child in the womb.

But in countless tens of millions of cases, the decision to abort is not based on a heartbreaking, agonizingly-complicated situation that presents a difficult moral dilemma. Instead, it is based on personal preference or even convenience.

This is the horror of abortion, and this makes it one of the great sins of the human race in modern times.

And remember: the number of abortions worldwide is growing: “Between 2010-2014, the Guttmacher Institute estimates that approximately 56 million abortions occurred each year around the globe. This is up from an estimated 50 million abortions per year between 1990-1994.” And we have seen the estimates for abortions since 2014.

This leaves me with two takeaways, the first, a call to action, the second, a simple reflection.

As for the call to action, let us each make a fresh determination to be a force for life in 2021. Check out the Love Life website for practical ways that you can make a difference. Every single life counts.

As for the reflection, it is simply this: when the number one cause of death worldwide is abortion, we can safely say that the only reason we continue to exist as a race here on planet earth is the sheer mercy of God.

It amazes me the number of people that claim to be Christians yet support and condone the slaughter of millions of babies every year.

COVID Has Killed Her Hundreds of Thousands, But Abortion Has Killed Her Tens of Millions

Chicom bioterrorism has murdered hundreds of thousands, but genocidal Demonicrat and RINOcrat traitors have willfully butchered tens of millions by abortion.

There. Fixed it.

I don’t think abortion is a girl.

Women have a lot of control there but...

One of the primary purposes and results of abortion is to allow males to life as perpetual 17 year old boys. Men could stop abortion pretty quickly. They enable it. Look at the GOP senate.

COVID is not politically driven, but if the Rats get control of the Senate, abortions will not only be unrestricted, but subsidized.

1.8 million, huh? Including people like the guy killed in a motorcycle accident and the "doctor" said he tested positive for the china virus, so that's what he died of?

How many of the 1.8 million would have died of old age or some other ailment this year, but are lumped in to the china virus stats to inflate the numbers?

Call me cynical...

Out of a global population of 7.8 Billion people, we have to shut everything down and destroy entire economies because 1.8 million people died of covid-19.

If you were to include all the abortions that take place because of birth control pills and Plan B you could probably double the number of abortions per year world-wide.

I did a rough guesstimate of how many abortions have taken place since the Soviets legalized it in 1921. Like I said it is a guesstimate and the number I came up with was 1 Billion.

1 Billion babies dying over one century. Try to wrap your mind around that one.

Even when Roe is overturned there will still be abortions until states pass laws that change doctors, nurse ms and the women who have abortions with murder.

We need the illustration someone posted yesterday of the # of deaths stated by the CDC in 2019 compared to CDC figures for 2020 from COVID - guess we could call that BC and AC...nearly identical stats..So believe it or not, people were really dying before we ever heard of COVID! And REALLY dying means you are REALLY, REALLY DEAD!

2 John 1: 8-11 speaks to your comment. I will quote verse 11: For he that biddeth him God speed is *partaker* of his evil deeds.

While almost all Christians will not commit the sin of abortion, we see many who claim to be Christian who support, encourage and vote for others who do those sinful acts. This verse teaches us that even if we stand afar off and support those who do these crimes, with whispered “best wishes” or “you go, man” or “Godspeed” or “Amen”, we are **partakers** with them as though we were doing the sinful act.

Dennis Prager’s take on the commandment, “Thou shalt not take the *name* of the Lord in vain” is that the word, *take*, can also mean *carry*; “Thou shalt not *carry* the name of the Lord in vain. That occurs when a person publicly asserts, “I am a Christian” but publicly commits/supports obviously sinful acts. Prager adds that that image is the most destructive to the proclamation of the gospel because it pictures one as a hypocritical Christian doing un-Christian acts.

Our churches are letting us down. A key factor is:
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge

I always go to 1 John 4:20:
If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

What can be more hateful than killing an innocent baby?

I'd like to thank the United States Government for protecting me and my kind.

You see, 40 years ago, my odds of making it out of the egg, alive, were very poor; about 80% of us died.

But a lady discovered our plight and wrote a book that addressed our problem,
and, in 1972, a law was ammended protecting us even further. (http://www.fws.gov/midwest/eagle/protect/laws.html)

What I find strange is that the same government passed a law the very next year that allowed for killing
of unborn, and apparently unwanted, humans.  Little ones still nestled safely in their Mother's womb.
Around 25% of them are dying before birth - on average nearly 3,300 - every day of the year.

I've heard that by now, somewhere over 60 MILLION of them have perished.
Wouldn't that kind of mess up the humans plans for growth, and welfare, and
retirement?

Strange birds; these Homo Sapiens.  Perhaps they'll come to their senses
before they are ALL dead!
