For those attending the rally, be aware of the following:

1. Food service & restaurants in downtown DC will be limited or nonexistent. Bring your own food/snacks + bottled water in a backpack.

2. Wear comfortable shoes, you may need to walk 3 or 4 miles to get to the main events area.

3. Restrooms could get iffy. Bring a box of tissues along. Use a restrooms finder app to locate possible places BEFORE you enter the city. Take WebMD’s advice and “keep a few tablets of Imodium (it comes in liquid form, too) with you at all times. A good rule: Take it 20 minutes before you go somewhere you may face a problem.”

4. Cell phone service may be inaccessible due to high usage on 1/6 -- have an agreed-upon rendezvous location & time where you will all meet if you're coming with a group, for the return trip.

5. Print out a street map of DC & a map of DC metro (subway system), and have them with you. You may need to "detour" around areas, if the police cut off certain roads & public areas.

6. If you are parking outside DC (in Maryland) and taking the subway into the city, I've heard that it's best to buy a metro pass BEFORE going. Not sure of the website, but search online for Washington DC metro. 1/6 will be a "normal" workday in DC, so subways should be open. Avoid the Green Line, since it goes into rough neighborhoods.

7. STAY WITH OF PEOPLE YOU KNOW, and don't become separated or alone. Congress could debate late into the evening, but still it's best to leave the city before dark (before 5 pm). Anything is possible, some speculate ANTIFA could sabotage bridges, subways, etc - and MAGA folks could be stranded for 1 - 2 days in DC.

Prepare for anything - staying together with your Group is the best plan!

Thank you for the recommendations. Yes, be prepared to walk and remember that the Virginia side of the river is not all that much of a hike form the DC Mall (for those who are in fair walking shape). DC will have something of the feel of Cold WAR Moscow I’m thinking.

Hi.

Good post.

IIRC, DC DOES NOT have CCW reciprocity unlike 34 other states.

I would STILL go armed.

Good list. It's worth noting that the farthest stops on the Blue Line - Franconia/Springfield and Van Doren - are supposed to open tomorrow, but who knows.
