After putting on a big show of shutting Times Square down for New Year's eve and telling New Yorkers that staying home is better, Mayor Bill de Blasio was out hoofing it up with his wife in the square:

Basically, he converted the ball-dropping event into his own private party, and expected all of the New Yorkers to watch him instead, beating their mittens to applaud. Like he was some kind of Dear Leader.

But De Blasio was out there, carving out an exception for himself, and not even trying to hide it.
Other blue-state mayors and governors were caught breaking their own social-distancing mores -- caught, that is, en flagrante delecto -- but this guy flung it in New Yorkers' faces.

It does tell us one thing though: That social distancing rules are for the little people, and the privileged political few are going to do as they please, effectively declaring everyone else 'chumps.' That's the essence of leftism, a nomenklatura elite, exempt from all the rules they impose on others, and don't think that communism-exposed De Blasio doesn't know it. De Blasio is incapable of shame and was doing this as a means of conditioning New Yorkers to understand that two sets of rules are what they are going to be obliged to live by if socialism is to be achieved.

New Yorkers keep complaining about this guy just like they complain about other Democraps like Cuomo, yet every election cycle what do they do? They vote Democrap, they don’t even consider anyone else. They would vote for Hitler if Hitler was running against a Republican.
In defense of some NYers, election fraud has been a staple for decades, ever wonder why in a presidential election it is a common known given that it will be blue for any democrat and is never in play? The state is mostly red yet the inner city is blue where the corruption is the most rampant
It’s the urban free-loaders that have made NY blue.
NYC has a guaranteed Dem majority because normal people can’t stay there (financially).
When a RINO ran against DeBlasio, he was accused of hearkening to the Crown Heights riots to scare voters into supporting him. It fell flat in part because a large percentage of voters weren’t even living there a couple of decades before during that violence; the city survives by importing foreigners to keep the lights on.
As any top member of the CCP will attest, power is like a muscle, use it or lose it.
Chris Christie tried it with Island Beach State Park. Didn’t go over very well. But then again this guy has the magic “D” next to his name.

Most of us assumed elections were regulated and fair, but the brutal truth is that those conducting the election determine the outcome.
How many of these Democrat controlled cities would remain Democrat IF the elections were truly honest and fair?
He’ll still be re-elected as long as he wants the job.
I’d say it’s a let them eat cake moment. Wait, cake implies a party. No cake for you. DeBlasio deserves a Ceaușescu moment.
Because he and his whatever are members of the ruling elite and don’t follow the rules they make for mere mortals. Plus he’s got to show us that he’s not racist even as he is not afraid to show us that he has very bad taste.

Lots of immigrants are fine people who love the Constitution...
But most of them come from cultures that expect government corruption and know the way to succeed is to know the "right people".
It is absurd to expect them to treasure and defend Constitutional rights, when some of the most basic are trampled underfoot, every day in New York City. Try to exercise your Second Amendment rights there, for example.

That sounds like the strange cycle Angela Merkel got into with Germany. The more she ruined that country with violent refugees, the more elections she won without any real competition. I still don’t understand it.
