Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech ripe with his country's successes over the past year, one wrought with global hardships, the greatest of which was first detected in his country—the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ties between superpowers China and the U.S. had been deteriorating for some time, and the international crisis only served to exacerbate them. As the Chinese leader spoke of hope for the new year, his officials issued a stark warning in response to the U.S. military posing a year-end challenge in the sensitive Taiwan Strait.
In the latest affront, the U.S. Navy conducted a rare double-warship pass through the Taiwan Strait with the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS John S. McCain and USS Curtis Wilbur.
In response to the move, the second such sail-through this month, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin expressed China's "firm opposition" and warned against future moves in remarks affirmed to Newsweek by Beijing's embassy in Washington.
"The Chinese side was closely following and fully aware of the U.S. military vessels' passage through the Taiwan Strait," Wang said. "The U.S. warships have repeatedly flaunted their prowess in the Taiwan Strait, provoked and stirred up trouble, sent wrong signals to the Taiwan independence forces, and seriously jeopardized peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait."

It is an aspiring one.

And they are firmly grounded in reality. They have no problem telling who’s a man and who’s woman, or what marriage is, or that women don’t have wives or men husbands, or that releasing criminals from jails is not a good idea, or saying that stealing $900 is perfectly fine. I could go on...
Considering the direction we are going maybe a Chinese take over might be an improvement.

Well, China has lots of things a super-power would have:
* Nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them
* A space program and probably space weapons
* A massive army
* A navy that technically outnumbers our own
* Aircraft carriers
* Stealth aircraft
* Scram jet autonomous weapons
* Spies that compromise our representatives on the intelligence commmitee
* A silk & road initiative with tentacles across the globe
* The ability to push other countries around (trade, the South China sea, etc...)
* A lot of stolen technology and know-how
* The indigenous ability to make their own substantial weapons of war
* An ostensible ally in Russia
* the list goes on...
So, I’m not surprised they see themselves as a superpower.
