During a speech on the Senate floor on Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated that “There is no other game in town” but the House bill to increase direct payments to $2,000, and that if the House bill is modified, it will not be able to become law before the end of this Congress because the House has already recessed.

And remember: those $2,000 checks are TAX money, that we do not have.
I have kind of given up on this whole matter. When Trump signed the original bill with all of the anti-American garbage in it, he threw away his legacy, and his leverage. Notice that they’re only discussing the money, not resending any of these new laws, such as barring border wall building and nothing is being said about canceling monies to illegal aliens. Trump signed these!!!

I am in favor of the $2,000 checks but only if they take the money from the money promised to the third world countries who will never see it anyway. These billions will disappear into a black hole where they can’t be traced or accounted for. What doesn’t line the pockets of foreign tyrants will line the pockets of American politicians and lobbyists. We are being robbed on a scale that is staggering.

A proposal of $2000 should be targeted to those who need it. Many Government employees have not missed a paycheck and shouldn’t be eligible for this. I’d like to see them take a 20% sympathy cut in pay. ALL of them. (And cut out stimulus monies from those making over $50,000/yr)
As a small business owner, i still have to pay ALL my taxes regardless of activity. (RE taxes, Workers Comp, Unemployment taxes, etc.)
I don’t care one way or the other — $0, $600, $2000, I have no dog in the fight except that I’m paying for it. But it’s laughable that we’re tens of trillions in debt already, they continue to spend like drunken sailors, this “stimulus” alone gives billions and billions to foreign countries like Israel, Ukraine, Nepal...And yet, the one thing they’re willing to go the mat over is this. heaven forbid some Americans get back a slightly larger, albeit still tiny, fraction of their own money.
Don’t forget that this is a toe in the water for UBI (Universal Basic Income) or welfare for all. Pretty soon the incentives to work are gone, and it’s off to the gulags to make farm tractors or shovels or something,
A lot of young enlisted military guys would have a net-negative income under this idea. A lifetime ago when I worked for the Department of the Interior I made less than 20k a year as well. I don’t know how many non-military govt. employees these are paid that little these days, but looks like a WS-3 still starts at $22,700, before adjustments for location and so forth. I’ve been able to make far more money in the private sector than I ever would have made in government.
There are plenty of overpaid government employees, but the general perception that ALL government employees are riding on easy street isn’t quite accurate either.

We are either in debt or there is some calculus going on that we are producing much more wealth than they want to tell us about so that certain projects black or just frivolous(to gain votes) can be funded while the rest of us just get by on a pittance. I think it is debt but everyone important seems to be lying right now so I’m not sure what to believe.
A reset is probably needed, ie a cancelling of all debt and a resetting of balances; but the way the evil socialists want to do it is to leave them in control of high tech while vastly reducing the populations and leaving whom is left as being panflute playing simple shephards and farmers while the evil socialists rule over them as Gods.
That is why they attack Christianity, you can’t rule immorally over a moral, spirit filled people who have no fear of death’s sting and are victorious over the grave! Christ and the Roman Empire were like oil and water one would have to give way over the other; that is why Christ died but not to defeat Rome but to defeat death and to be that perfect sacrifice so that men might be saved from his sins and from the fear of death.
When the common men fear God and do not fear death, then it is the tyrants’ turn to tremble! Our home is in the Living God ultimately and God himself has said that he will shake the Earth, the Nations, the seas and the dry lands and all of heaven.
I still haven’t gotten through the bill but I understand there’s $25,000,000 in it for congressional pay raises. I’m so glad because I wouldn’t want those poor darlings to go without!! I may locate everything I’m told IS in the bill by next year at this same time.
